    The products are great. The technical support is excellent - once you get to talk to someone. But over the last 3 weeks I have had 3 calls to tech support and each one took almost an hour to speak with someone - unacceptable. As I write this I have been waiting 25 minutes (now #2 in line) as all I want is a return authorization number in order to get my unit refurbished (almost 15 years old). Sales support told me return numbers must be issued by tech support. Why in the heck must I wait an hour again to just get a number to take my unit in for repair? While I can recommend the products, I can not recommend the company to others unless the service response times become reasonable.

When so many companies are sending their customer service offshore to someone reading from a script, Davis Instruments has two great techs, Dru and Jerry who quickly diagnosed my failed part (The system is 17 years old but still supported). I ordered parts from their Amazon store and two days later I was back in business

    An excellent weather station you should buy. Its the lowest-priced, highest quality station I could find that updates wind speed every 2 sec instead of every 30 sec or longer. Ive had it over 6 years and it has never malfunctioned. My correspondence below dated July 2021 provides the reason why i gave my Davis weather station 4 stars. Most functionality was 5 stars, however, and only one non-critical issue was 2 stars so over all it should be rated 4.5 to be precise. To Davis Customer Support Team Ive had a Vantage Pro 2 for many years and love it except for a non-critical issue affecting one measurement. The indoor temperature is not correct whenever the backlight is turned on. Its at least 3-5 degrees warmer than actual temp. But without the light, the background is dark and doesnt provide enough contrast to read the display unless I stand 6 inches or less away. Do you have a fix for this? Thanks, Mark L. - Update: I received a very prompt response from Tom R. (Davis Instruments). They admit the issue and offer not a fix but a 2-step workaround: 1) keep the light on 24/7 and 2) adjust the calibration down 4-5 degrees for indoor temp. This workaround helps but can mean up to a 2 degree error for indoor temp since the temp diff is not linear but varies. - Update #2: I changed my rating to 4 stars because all functionality works great except for inaccurate internal temperature when the backlight is on. Overall I do recommend this product because only one of over a dozen parameters are incorrect. Its probably the best weather station on the market for the average non-technical, weather enthusiast. It also is appropriate for more advanced, technical-oriented consumers.

They are very helpful in walking you through any glitches that I have ever encountered with my unit and are probably they best that I have had with any manufacturer! Quality folks and much appreciated, thanks!
