I wish I could give ZERO stars!! Whoever they have managing the motel- the old haggard alcoholic lady?!. Ya she needs to be fired. She never picks up the phone and when she does she is RUDE and doesnt help anyone. Very unwelcoming- made me want to find another hotel, too bad for us we were too far from everything. We were stuck with her. Ughhhh. Nightmare.

I've driven from Portland to California along HWY 101 a couple of times now, and this is by far one of my favorite places to stay! Just north of Klamath California, this motel is immediately off 101 in an otherwise secluded area of forest. There are a few homes and reservation buildings nearby, but it's quite a ways from the nearest town. Be sure to call ahead and check if their cafe is open if you arrive during their off-season, you might need to bring food for yourself! For being secluded in the forest, it has all the basics very well covered. It's no high-tech resort, but I felt that it was a very good deal for the cost. Rooms have good heating and cooling, good clean water (the ever-underrated amenity), good toilets/showers/sinks, and good internet. I was the only guest when I visited during the off-season, but I'd expect this place is pretty busy during the summer! I did get enough time to make the hike down the beach, which while rainy in February was still pretty nice! It'd be fantastic during the summer. My only serious complaint is that traffic on the 101 can be loud, especially the semis and some horrible cars/trucks with loud exhaust. It was probably worse when I was here due to severe snow on the I-5 passes, so I won't hold that against it. Still, I wish the hotel's doors and windows didn't face the highway, or at least that they were a bit better insulated. Still, once it was late enough, traffic died down and it was easy to sleep.

If I could give negative stars, I would. I called 4 times, no one answered. So I drove back and inquired about rooms, asked me about how many guest I have. I asked again, how much for the night. The lady, got snippy and said harshly, how many guest I have. I told her, and then proceeded to tell me I can't book a room I was inquiring about and HAVE to get this other room with more beds for two adults and two babies who sleep in carriers... No hotel I been to has ever asked me how many guest I have, especially since there was not a single car there except mine and the lady's (I assume). I thanked her and promptly left... If you just want a quick night's rest and want to snuggle with your family.. don't stop here. they'll tell you "yOuR nOt aLlOwEd" even with babies!

Very cute & cozy... Definitely kitschy, but I was expecting that & I love it even more for that reason. The bed was a little on the hard side & they could use a box spring cover, because it was straight outta the 70's... overall the room was nice & clean. The bathroom was updated & very nice, except for shower head, why you would completely redo the bath & shower & then not update the shower head is beyond me Also there was no place to set your shampoo, they had a little pop in the corner shelf & it was not set up properly & came crashing down when I set my little travel size shampoos in it. Startled me, but it's something that needs to be addressed... overall, I thought the place was unique & conveniently located directly across the street from the trees of Mystery, which is why I picked it. Loved everything about this place! Clean and comfortable rooms. Trees of Mystery across the street. Nice Cafe next door. Had a great stay. Plus, a beautiful beach down the road. Would definitely stay here again.
