MPPP was a great preschool for our son who was there for three years starting in the 2yo program. It's a play-based and largely child-led program with a strong social-emotional focus. MPPP draws elements from Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia teaching styles which is one of the things I liked most about the program. This 40+ year old program is constantly evolving and regularly incorporates science, engineering, physics, art, math, music, and movement activities into their daily offerings for the children. The preschool director, Angela, who teaches the 2yo and T/TH classes really appreciates the many different philosophies of early childhood education and works hard at keeping the program current and relevant (through constant research and attending workshops with leaders in the field). Your child will never be asked to sit down and work on mundane worksheets at MPPP. Everything is learned through hands-on experimentation and play. Fine and gross motor skill development is also a big focus. Families who subscribe to RIE, Hand in Hand, and/or Peaceful Parenting principles can rejoice in knowing that all adult interaction with the children at MPPP is respectful and empowering because our kid's thoughts and feelings matter.  Coercion, manipulation, and punitive disciplinary tactics are not used or tolerated at MPPP. Lastly, unlike the typical drop-off preschool this wonderful parent-run cooperative has allowed us to nurture lasting friendships with our preschool friends and their families since parents get to work (twice a month) in the classroom alongside other parents/caregivers. In case it wasn't obvious I can't recommend MPPP enough.

I love MPPP.  My daughter did so well there.  This school 100% helped her not be attached to my hip.  Best decision for both of us.

I must say this school was good for my granddaughter more less teacher Laura was great! The programs they have for the kids are great they learn a lot. But there are some things they need to work on. The teacher that name starts with a A need to be more welcoming in the morning she dont smile she makes some parents I talk to feel uneasy. My granddaughter started in Aug.the first day of school. Will mom had a baby in march and there was six weeks left of school. This lady from the school ask my granddaughter's dad when dropped her off at school if my daughter was coming this week to help at the school he say no I dont think so she is in labor right now. I kid you not this lady called my daughter and email her while in labor and wanted to know when she could come to the school and help. After being home with the new baby for a week my daughter offer to perpare art work cut out things anything she could do at home and they said no we need you to help at school. My daughter said I have a newborn I cant bring my newborn to school. The sad thing is my granddaughter was unable to finish the school year with only a few weeks left. They need to be more understanding with things that cant be helped. And more about keeping kids in school. They started out with 5 stars but ened with 3.
