image My boyfriend said this is one place he always wanted to come back and camp here, and let me tell you this place is breathtaking and pictures can never do justice! This place is beautiful but you do need an off-road car or 4wheel drive and dont be afraid of the road because its worth it when you get down to camp. There is a huge tree blocking the last stretch to camp but off to your right you can tell people been driving around it and its doable. We will definitely be coming back few more times this year!

image Fun trip down from Guffy, Lupine is remote camping. No cell service, rough road, wildlife in the wilderness. Ill be back next year. Such a beautiful place.
Video on YT if you want to see how rough it is. 4* because of the gnats. Vintage Overland Adventures

image Been there twice in 1986 and 1992. At that time, any sedan could make it. I drove a 1969 Dart and a lower sporty Nissan was at the campsite. The last mile was along a dry rocky wash. Both times, I hiked south over the hill into the Sheep Wilderness and to Fish Fork in the San Gabriel drainage. Downstream was a deep canyon with flowing water in late June and green vines, almost like being in the Appalachians.
Campsites were free then. First time (when single), I just parked and backpacked far in with no tent just air mattress, sleeping bag, and poncho for rain (rare). A bit spooky sleeping alone under the stars with mountain lions around.

image Very remote campsite. If you want solitude and total off the grid camping, heres your spot. I got there in an AWD RAV4, but I would not do that again. The road to Guffy is bumpy, but manageable. Past Guffy, the road starts a significant decline, is extremely rough, and in a few spots is borderline off-roading. There were at least two places Im just lucky I didnt get stuck. Zero chance a normal height car could make it there. From the highway, the sign says 9 miles, and that took me nearly an hour. I just had a picnic and left. Camping would be a trip.

image Rough road to get there, but a nice, secluded camp ground at the end.
