New Horizons Charter Academy

This is my honest review on this school. Read this before they delete it, this school honestly has so much controversy it should be taken to twitter, you can see from past reviews that the teachers and assistants there are very strict. It's sad to say these reviews are TRUE. Many students gossip about things they shouldn't. You could get made fun of for the smallest things, having a crush, singing a song that's "Cringe" or even saying something that others disagree with. There are even students that talk behind other students back, this person talks behinds everyone's back and is located in one of he higher grades. She talks behind people who haven't done anything to her. But yet again this review isn't based on this one person. It's about the toxicity in the school. The principal and vice-principal are both very strict about hoodies. The students here are very toxic and can make everyone make fun of you for the smallest things. I know I said this already but it's just unbelievable how much these kids are toxic towards one another. You can tell when it's a joke, even if they're cursing at each other it still may be a joke. The principal is only attending the school when it is something serious or if it is a graduation, making it feel like an absent guardian. All these other reviews about "oh me and my child love this school" it's all a bunch of LIES. Just straight LIES LIES LIES. They were either told to write such a great review or their parents haven't seen the real side of this horrible school.  The school is more two-faced than most or your ex's. Also did I forgot to mention the Substitutes they hire?! They are all super rude and yell at their kids for no reason whatsoever there was this one incident in 6th grade last year (A story I was told from someone in that grade last year which I verified with other people and is true) this substitute yelled at one of her students walking towards her than grabbed her arm roughly basically hitting her. Do not send your kids here this is your only warning.

This Charter School feels like home. My daughter had been homeschooled for 3 years & wanted to go to "real"school with kids. I found this little Gem through a friend. I love that it's small so the teachers are caring and super involved with the kids. I love that we have class Dojo and are able go directly message the teachers and principals for questions. The staff is super easy going and they get to know you pretty well so they won't let children leave with anyone unless they call you!

I am very disappointed in this school. My daughter was suspended for telling another girl in her class to stop talking about her. The vice principal considered it "bullying". When Mrs. KRAAKE, the vice principal, called me to explain to me the details, she was laughing while she told me my daughter was being suspended, i went on and let her finish. When it was my turn to talk i let her know i was still confused in how was that considered bullying, she raised her voice at me and started yelling at me. I then told her to let me speak and to stop screaming at me so i can ask my questions. She got so defensive she wouldnt let me talk at all. She then tried to explain to me what the definition of "bullying" is and i told her i didnt need to know because i already knew. I then called the school to speak to the principal and still have not heard from him. This incident happened on 10/13/22 i left several of messages and still no word from the principal, Mr. THOMAS. The reason why i am so confused is because i had previously called the school to let them know that there is a student in my daughters class who keeps touching her butt, nothing was done. Mr. Perez, my daughters teacher, put his hands on my daughters shoulders and pulled her against him. She felt uncomfortable because she was able to feel his stomach and the buckle of his belt. When i called the school in regards to this, nothing was done. but my daughter gets suspended over telling someone to stop talking about her?? im so lost. This is unfair and unprofessional. This school needs better principals who care about our children.
