***This Orthodontist office and its staff are currently the defendants in a lawsuit alleging fraud, negligence, false promise, breach of contract, unjust enrichment, unfair business practices, HIIPA violations, and more*** When I decided to sign with this office it was because they had a lot of good reviews, seemed to offer personalized treatment, and they offered $1000 off if I signed and paid on the spot. Now I know why they want to get your money right away: it was all too good to be true. I have since learned that they offer discounts for services such as retainers at the end of treatment in exchange for reviews. So those 5 star reviews are likely in exchange for financial rewards. If that seems shady, you havent heard anything yet. To get me to sign with them, they lied. Promised the moon. Unfortunately they failed to keep notes of what they promised. They instantly forgot, and administered the wrong treatment. The problem is that I have special needs, which they ignored and applied the same cookie cutter treatment they use for everyone. Not only that- but I gave them my money on July 10th. I was told my treatment would start two weeks later. When did it actually start? MID SEPTEMBER. At no point did the orthodontist herself explain my treatment plan or go over my individual case. I only ever saw her in passing after the initial consultation. I never had my appointments scheduled with her. It was always with a dental technician. During my treatment (if you want to call it that), it was clear something was wrong. At times I could not open my jaws wide enough to insert food. My only issues before entering her office were cosmetic; and EVEN THOSE were made worse by Dr. Shafagh. When I arranged a meeting with the orthodontist and tried to explain the problem, she refused to listen. She became infuriated that I would dare think anything was wrong. I left to find another orthodontist. Dr. Shafagh thinks she can keep the FULL amount I paid even though, not only did she NOT complete the promised treatment, but after a few months my teeth were MUCH WORSE than before we started both cosmetically and functionally.
