Greatest bunch of guys around! I stopped by 53s while I was on the phone with 911 as I was being followed close by the station and didnt want to drive home. They made sure I was safe before leaving, and I even had someone call me to make sure I got home safely. I wish I had their name now, but I did call their Battalion chief later and expressed my gratitude. Thanks guys! BTW Hats off for growing the plumeria out front!

I can't be sure this was the responding fire dept so this may apply to the other nearby dept, if they are closer to Trump Golf Course. So i actually was at the beach when I heard there was a plane crash near Trump Golf Course (which is above the beach) ..one day a few years ago ... so I was able to walk over there and see the plane on the beach and the fire department just arrived and clearly they were having trouble deciding what to do , and then actually doing it.the plane seem to have landed in decent shape ...didn't seem to be destroyed... but the fire department hooked up a rope to it and tried to move it and basically demolished the plane without moving it.meanwhile I was the only one there apart from one other lady who was an LA Times Reporter . I actually had been swimming so I didn't even have a shirt on, & the fire chief looked at me and decided to show me who is Boss rather than just nicely ask me to move a little farther away ...he had to do some kind of real bossy type of gesture probably hoping that I would defy him so that he could call the police. the police weren't even there. and I was not a rebel person I was just taking pictures. I have a video of it somewhere, but what I was wondering is the pilot of the plane who I presume is the owner who survived but was gone to the hospital ...he must have wondered what happened to his plane when he returned... I left before they took it away (presumably on a salvage truck) . Seems like the plane could have been saved not accidently & ineptly demolished by the fire department ...so I have to give them a pretty low grade on that one. .. if they didn't know what they're doing they shouldn't have started hooking up a rope and tearing the plane apart. On the other hand maybe they did the guy an insurance favor...maybe he got a brand new plane. Nonetheless given the way the chief treated me and their incompetence I have to give them a low mark.

SO periodically I park right next to the Fire Dept and walk to the beach at Abalone Cove to save a few dollars on the parking fee. One day, about a year ago I was there and as I returned I noticed a GRASS FIRE right across from the fire station of all places. It was right in the median between both lanes of traffic where a bit of grass few. The Fire Dept doors were all closed up and apparently were OBLIVIOUS to a fire right next to them..so I KNOCKED on the door and simply POINTED to the fire right across the way..., the guy said "ok" and the next thing you know they opened up the big doors and the truck drove out and they extinguished the fire. That's the extent of the story. My only issue is that the guy at the door could have shown a little more "brotherly love" so to speak. We're both citizens of Los Angeles county..., I'm being a good citizen reporting the fire.. say thanks and give me a thumbs up or something, not that I'm a big hero for reporting a little grass fire, but I think what us "mere citizens" need MORE of from "first responders" is a little more love for trying to be good , rather than our only encounters with first responders being negative for doing something wrong (ie traffic infractions etc). We are always reminded to 'SHOW SOME LOVE" for our first responders, but us mere citizens need some love too once in a while. Give me a smile and a high five or fist bump & I'll be happy as a clam. God bless America
