Teacher Sharmila has taught both of my children, and I have known her as their teacher for 10 years. She is absolutely wonderful and both kids were reading by the time they "graduated" from preschool. Highly recommend!

Between our two boys, we've had 5.5 years with Sharmila and couldn't imagine any other preschool.  Her program is well structured for the little ones to thrive socially, emotionally and academically.  Not only did the kids progress academically, she instilled a love of learning in our kids which has continued with our oldest so far (1st grade at the time of this review).  Sharmila has years of Montessori experience and it shows.  Her demeanor, and that of the teachers she hires, is firm but loving.  You can also tell that she deeply cares about the kids.We feel blessed to have found Sharmila Montessori, and our family is better for it.

Sharmila Montessori House of Children is a play-based Montessori school with an appropriate balance of play- and project-based activities. The director, Sharmila, and teachers there are simply amazing. They are all educated and love what they do. I have visited many MANY centers in Menlo Park/Palo Alto and this is by far one of the best places I have seen, even in relation to the more well-known places in the area, in terms of its curriculum, teachers, and space for children.As a first-time mom, it was extremely difficult for me to even imagine leaving my son anywhere after caring for him at home for two years. After understanding me and my son, Sharmila helped my family come up with a plan to transition my son. Sharmila and the teachers were extremely patient and helpful throughout this entire process. After only one week of full-time attendance my son would clap his hands in excitement upon arrival. He talks about Sharmila and his teachers with excitement at home and looks forward to going to 'school' every day. I already see a lot of improvement in my son's social behavior. I have no doubt that in a few short years, Sharmila Montessori House of Children will be one of the top sought-after schools in the Bay Area. Had I found this place sooner, I would not have put my son's name on so may waitlists for when he turns 3! We are so fortunate to have found Sharmila.

I didn't have preconceived notions of what a preschool should be, but my wife and I both knew that we wanted a place where we could tell the teachers truly cared about their kids. I cannot be more grateful that we found teacher Sharmila and her incredible team. Every day they pour so much love and thoughtful energy into their time with the kids. Our 2 kids are always so excited to arrive at her door and are all smiles when we pick them up. They work on art, play with the variety of toys and books, including outdoor space, and work on letters, numbers and reading. Sharmila is very thoughtful with her feedback of the children and earns immense respect from them. For example, we were having trouble getting our daughter to stay in her bed at night when she was three. We talked to Teacher and Sharmila about it and she said she would speak with Myla. Teacher Sharmila, in her very loving way, explained to Myla the importance of going to bed and staying in her bed when her parents asked her to. The next night Myla went to bed and stayed there, first time. Mind blown. It will be a sad day when our oldest daughter graduates to kindergarten. If you are lucky enough to get one of the coveted spaces into Sharmila's school, I could not recommend it highly enough.

Sharmila is very passionate about her program, and it did change our kid's trajectory for the better. Our daughter finished three years at Sharmila, and by the end of it, she was one of the most confident, curious, informed, and well-behaved children joining the kindergarten (even on the zoom in the early days of school). Sharmila and her team deeply care about the children, but that does not hold them back from ensuring they are learning and prospering at the same time. The school has several fun activities all year round, some of which are just a 'jolly' good time for grown-ups. Sharmila provides detailed strengths and areas of improvement for the kids and has helped us with various parenting tips. My endorsement couldn't go any further than the fact that our second one (a lockdown toddler) is now under Sharmila's care, and we are amazed with how quickly he is catching up.
