Beautiful & moving Memorial to Victims of the Pacific War 1931-45 was dedicated on September 14, 2013 amidst the Holocaust & Genocide Memorial Grove at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California, an hour North of San Francisco. Props to the Global Alliance for Preserving the History of WWII in Asia and Professor Jean Bee Chan & her late husband Peter Stanek for organizing to establish the memorial. Nearby the 11 foot stone monument lay dozens of bricks with inscriptions under a sculpture of railroad tracks and a cylindrical tower with a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King overlooking a beautiful lake/pond.

A unique memorial that visually evokes elements of the history the Shoah (e.g. the railroad motif on the ground and the barb-wire-like broken-glass pedestal) commemorating the dead while retaining the light of hope in the pedestal that lights up at night to shine like a beacon in the dark.
