Taproot Midwifery

We welcomed our second baby at home with Taproot Midwifery. Tel and Amy were a wealth of knowledge and expertly created and held a caring and non-judgmental space for our family during our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Having previously experienced hospital based care with our first baby we were blown away by the truly individualized care we received with Taproot Midwifery. Having hour long appointments, the consistency of a known and trusted provider, a midwife who was also an IBCLC, and regular early postpartum/well-baby visits in our home set this experience apart. We will forever remember how safe, heard, and empowered we felt as we welcomed our baby with Taproot Midwifery.

I had an excellent homebirth experience with Taproot Midwifery. My initial interview and first few months of care were with Stephanie, covering for the owner, Tel, during their parental leave. All my questions and concerns about having a homebirth were addressed and answered. I knew what to expect throughout my pregnancy as well as financially. Tel is an excellent judge of character because I liked everyone involved with my pregnancy and birthing experience. As my pregnancy progressed, I became more comfortable and excited with my choice to have my baby at home. Tel has an excellent bedside manner, and I always felt my mental and physical well-being were prioritized throughout my care. They let me know what to expect as we approached my delivery date and let me borrow books, and recommended additional resources to check out online. When I went past my due date, Tel checked up on me regularly and gave me many recommendations to help encourage labor. Had I not had such an attentive midwife, I would have ended up in the hospital with an induction. My baby decided to make her appearance the day before my 42-week mark. Tel had been checking in with me daily for more than a week and was ready to head to my house when the time came. Tel brought along two assistants, RN, Maggie, and student midwife, Joy, who were kind and personable and helped make my experience more comfortable. This was my first baby, and she was in a less than ideal position, so it took a few hours of pushing; I was glad to have skilled midwives because we went through many birthing positions and techniques to get this baby out. I finally pushed her out, two hours before midnight! I didn't feel worried or scared throughout the experience, aside from desperately not wanting to go to the hospital. Once the baby was here, everyone took terrific care of us and stuck around to monitor and clean up for a few hours. They left my house the way they found it, even at the late hours of the night. Postnatal care was terrific as well. Both baby and I were cared for, and they ensured we were in tip-top condition for the six weeks following our birthing experience. Tel regularly checked in with me regarding my mental health to ensure I was not experiencing postpartum depression. They also answered questions and provided tips on breastfeeding as it took a little time to get my milk going. I'm so glad I found Tel and their incredible team. They are one of the most compassionate people I've met, incredibly easy to talk to, and so good with my baby; it was a pleasure being their client. Thank you, Tel, Stephanie, Joy, and Maggie, for your outstanding care and for providing me with a fantastic experience I will always hold close to my heart. I'm so in love with my daughter and feel so fortunate I could have her at home. I truly appreciate all of you!

We truly got the best care possible with Tel at Taproot Midwifery. Tel is warm, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. During pregnancy, Tel presented all of our options in a non-judgmental manner and always held a safe and supportive environment for us to express our physical, mental, and emotional challenges and wins. We couldnt have the homebirth we planned and Tel was with us in the hospital to support us through our birth. After we welcomed our little one, Tel continued to provide regular support for us, even when we had more bumps in the road than we expected. Tel was there to advocate for us when needed and has a deep well of resources and connections to further support families. Tel offers a holistic approach to the full journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and brings a great balance of medical and herbal knowledge to their practice. Every step of the way is built on informed consent and a trusting relationship. Tel is a well-respected midwife in the community and came highly recommended to us from multiple friends. We are honored to continue to recommend Taproot Midwifery to everyone we know!

This was absolutely the best birthing experience Ive had (Ive had 3). When I first began with Tel and Amy, I was surprised to learn that appointments were 1 hour; I have never experienced this in either of my other births. Tel and Amy were extremely knowledgeable about a variety of issues. I truly felt heard, a genuine client-centered approach. They not only made me feel like they cared for the baby but for me. This was felt during pregnancy and postpartum, another unique experience. I really couldnt recommend this practice more. Thank you for such a wonderful experience, Tel and Amy!

They have canceled my appointment twice. I just see this as a sign to move elsewhere
