Canceled all policy's for my vehicles as of  the beginning of May / since then I've been charged May, June, & now July. I've had to call each time for a refund. This company is embarrassing .

Cicero is a complete professional.  He helped me understand what insurance I needed and the best policy for my home and car.  I paid much less with him and got more insurance with Horace Mann.  Cicero was the only agent that got back to me quickly too.  It is amazing how some people will not respond when you want to give them money.  Thank you Cicero for all your help.

We have been policyholders for many years and we are completely satisfied with the company. We have had claim losses filed and the process was prompt, courteous and relatively painless. Also, I cannot say enough about my agent Joe G. HE IS AWESOME! Always courteous, prompt, and professional.

After being with this company well over 16 years we were surprised to have such poor customer service!We had our catalytic converter stolen (Prius) and I found out what a HUGE pain it is actually finding someone who had an Original part. We went to three mechanics who each told us not to buy an aftermarket converter because it might not pass smog. They all said a genuine factory converter is recommended and will not have a problem smogging.Well, a gentlemen named Brian Washington who handled our claim thought he knew better and at first offered to pay $1500 & change, which would only cover half the part! He said due to the age of our car we could put an aftermarket part in. Except he had no clue this part had to pass smog, and when I mentioned it, he didn't care.Even though I found a mechanic who had the part, he ignored the invoice that was sent in ($3500 for part & labor) and sent me around $2400-$2700 (cannot remember exact amount), Brian dragged his feet on giving approval for the mechanic to start, had not contacted anyone (ourselves & the mechanic) and said the claim was approved, paid and closed.I found Brian's attitude and customer service abysmal and totally unacceptable. I believe Horace Mann is no longer even close to the insurance company we started with.Even though my invoice was $3,900 (I paid out of my pocket $400 for a cage to be placed over the converter, I am out about $1400 due to the poor decision making and poor client service!Avoid them like the plague!

I would give 0 stars if I was able to. This insurance company is horrible, PLEASE take my advice and do not insure with them. I was involved in a car accident on a Friday at 5pm and no one from Horace Mann could be reached.I had to tow my car out of my own pocket and wait for them to call my back for instructions on when and where to have my car towed to the shop. After numerous phone calls the following days, I was finally in contact with an agent 5 days after the crash. I than waited 3 more days for an estimator to be sent to my house to look at the damage to my car. Two days after that I was finally told to send my car to an auto shop. So 10 days after the accident my car is finally in the shop. I am not exaggerating when I say this, 13 days after my car being in the shop, Horace Mann finally cuts a check to the body shop to began working on my car. 23 days after my accident and my car is finally able to be worked on because Horace Mann FINALLY mailed a check out, not to mention every time the shop or I would call to ask about the check, we would receive no call back from Horace Mann. Than the rental car company calls me and says Horace Mann is only covering 20 days of car rental. I called Horace Mann and asked why are they only covering 20 days when it took them 23 days to get my car to a shop and get a check out to the shop? I was told "Horace Mann doesn't feel like any lost time from day of accident till now, is any fault of Horace Mann."   Wow!... let this be a lesson to all PLEASE don't insure with this company.  I reported them to BBB as well.
