I had the best IVF experience at UCSF. Dr. Rosen is very knowledgeable and caring. He always listened to my concerns and answered my questions patiently. His nurse coordinator, Cathy Chen-Yu is awesome. She is very helpful; she is always available either by phone or by message. I highly recommend Dr. Rosen and his great team.

I am actually shocked at how high the reviews are. I am not willing to share all the details, but had a harmful and traumatizing experience with this place. Truly the worst medical care of my life. Cruel, fatphobic. Please avoid for your own health.

Don't be fool by UCSF name.  It's a horrible place to get care here.1.  Received the estimate billing from the office, had questions about the estimate and no response received until 1 week later. The billing estimate was not accurate, there was all this additional fees that was put on the bottom of the estimate.  When reviewing the bill, I need to know the exact fee so that i can make comparison and decision based upong the numbers.2. Went to see Dr. Noel who informed me that the assistant will provide me details and paperwork, no one contacted me until I contacted Dr. Noel again 1 week later regarding the paperwork. With this negligence performance from UCSF Reproductive Center and I do not want any stress during my pregnancy, I transferred my oocytes out of UCSF bank, had IVF done in RMA, decided to see OB from Golden Gate ObGyn and delivered my son in CPMC.  I found nurses in CPMC prior to delivery and during delivery, front desk receptionists for check in, nurses after delivery and nurses in front desk are all happy people, friendly and have good bedside manner.  I was happy with my decision of having OB and delivery outside of UCSF.

I dont like to leave reviews anything less than 5 stars but I must admit, I am not having the best experience at this facility. Reading through other reviews, Im seeing many other people having issues with communication and billing. I have experienced the same. Insurance doesnt cover much of what they offer and the initial estimate we were verbally provided has now almost doubled. Weve had to e mail the staff and thankfully get some of that waived. But for a facility of this stature, it is simply not acceptable. I regret being so optimistic and being more stern in the beginning about seeking clarity in the strategy and billing expectations. None of that is ever provided. I am grateful to be in a position to afford this expense but many families could experience major setbacks in their life plans simply by not having the clarity they deserve upfront and that doesnt feel fair. My hope is the billing team reads this review, and all the others, and makes a commitment to being more empathetic of their clients/patients.

I have had experience with two other clinics in the Bay Area before transferring to UCSF. USCF ranks abysmally poorly in comparison to the other two. The other reviews are not exaggerating. Be warned. You will never see an actual licensed doctor at this facility. They outsource all services to the nursing staff. In over six months of frequent visits to the clinic I saw (in person) an actual licensed doctor exactly ONE time. You will rarely see or speak to the same individual more than once or twice, there is absolutely zero continuity of care. Your assigned doctor will be unlikely to even call you by phone or video chat at any point during treatment. To be frank, at this point I'm not sure my apparent doctor even physically exists. They will treat you like a number, not a nuanced human being. I routinely saw my actual doctor at the other two facilities (Spring Fertility being the best and to which I plan to return and would get 4.5 stars in my book), so I know this is possible. I only, misguidedly, transferred to USCF for a specific doctor when my wonderful doctor at Spring moved out of the area. Transferring to USCF is a decision I deeply regret. USCF's Reproductive Endocrinologists are detached, lazy, impersonal and downright apathetic toward their patients. They do not listen or adjust to feedback (they're getting your money regardless after all). They do not provide nuanced care specific to each unique human body they are treating (not every female's biology adheres to the "average" treatment standards). I cannot emphasize enough that you should choose (nay run to!) another (any) clinic if you are interested quality care. UCSF can't even boast having the best pricing options/packages in the area (that would be Spring in fact).
