I Can Academy Tutoring

I have Kinder, 3rd and 5th grade homeschoolers that all attend I Can Academy. Our journey to find them simply started with me (mom) realizing that teaching the full spectrum of language arts passed learning how to read was not something I enjoyed and wanted to find a fun way for my 3rd and 5th graders to learn and enjoy. Enter Shaina and her team at I Can Academy. My older 2 came in for an assessment to see where they were at on their learning journey and we signed up to start classes the next week. From day 1, I was hearing things like "mom, we learned everything for math and language arts in the most fun way possible". By week 3 my reluctant writers were happily writing (and learning grammar, spelling, etc without even realizing it)! Every morning when they wake up they ask if it's I Can day! My older 2 made it sound so fun that my kindergartener asked if she can go. So now all 3 look forward to I Can day. They have all grown immensely in both language arts and math skills and have started forming friendships with the other children in their groups. We have even started walking to the park nearby after class for lunch and playtime with our new friends. All 3 of my kids want to return next year both for the friends and their teachers. Shaina and her team have truly created a unique and welcoming environment for kids and families. They have been completely open and welcoming to all my questions and suggestions (I am a homeschooler after all- I like being extremely involved in how and what my kids learn and who is helping them do it). I have experienced nothing but smiles from both my kids and all of the kids in their groups. I cannot recommend a better place for your child to come learn

I Can Academy is everything I was looking for a tutoring place and MORE. Every instructor we have worked with has been amazing and so welcoming. My son actually looks forward to going every week, and doesn't complain one bit. We have seen an improvement in math and reading in only two short months. 10/10 recommend if you are looking to support your child in academics.

I stumbled upon the owner Shaina at a local farmers market conveniently during a time that I was getting frustrated with our experience at Mathnasium. We are almost 1 month in with I Can Academy and I can (no pun intended) say it is a night and day difference from Mathnasium! My son looks forward to going every week! I love how personal and customized the tutoring is to your child's needs. You will not regret taking your child here, that's for sure!

I am so happy we found I Can Academy. I was doing a Google search because I have been unimpressed with the franchises out there like Kumon, Mathnaseum, Tutoring Club, etc. I had visited them all to find support for my 1st grader who was struggling in both math and reading. They weren't very warm environments and I didn't like that it would potentially be a different person working with her each time. I Googled Tutoring near me, and up popped I Can Academy. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Shaina, the owner, opened this center as she saw a need to support more Orange County families using best practices AND credentialed teachers (she has been a teacher and an instructional coach so she knows what kids need). We scheduled a free 1:1 assessment and couldn't sign up fast enough. Fast forward 8 weeks, and our daughter LOVES it. She is learning, building her confidence, and gets excited for her "I Can Academy day"! What more could you ask for? They just opened in August and I would get in there ASAP as they are filling up fast. Thank you Shaina for your vision and supporting our 1st grader and all families in South OC!

I Can Academy is THE place to send your children for tutoring. The owner, Shaina, is an educator at heart who knows how to support not only students, but help parents understand the ins and outs of the school system, standards based grading, and beyond. We had the pleasure of meeting her when our son wanted to get support for his daughter. She walked us through the Building Blocks of Literacy (something that we knew nothing about), she gave us ideas on games to play, ways to practice letter names and sounds, and most importantly-help our granddaughter learn to read.
