Home Care Assistance helped me after I had a very involved surgery and needed to be picked up from the hospital and have help setting up where I was staying, getting groceries, and things like that. They really bent over backwards making sure I'd have the help I needed - the caregiver they originally scheduled came down with the flu the day of my discharge, so one of the head company people picked me up from the hospital and took care of me while they were finding a replacement, and the manager Kari texted me regularly after the surgery asking if everything had gone okay and even met me and the caregiver the day of my discharge with flowers! I think they only do non-medical care (their caregivers aren't CNAs or nurses, I don't think), but that covers everything like bathing, dressing, driving, helping you on the toilet, cooking, etc. A caveat with my experience was that my particular caregiver didn't speak English very well and was a bit of a nervous driver, but we managed well enough, and I'm told they work hard to match caregivers to clients (plus my particular caregiver was a last-minute replacement for the original one as mentioned). They charged me $30/hour with a 4-hour minimum shift, which I thought was very reasonable for a bonded and insured caregiver with driving capability and a car (they don't charge you for gas or mileage - I believe they reimburse the drivers directly). They were also very flexible with hours. I wound up not needing as much care as I thought I would, and they were fine with me removing or changing the lengths of the shifts originally planned. I had a top-notch experience with this company on an organizational level, particularly with case manager Kari, and definitely recommend them.
