image Some professors are there because they need a job and not because they are God oriented. Treat it as such when applying.

image I didn't finish my JD but I was enrolled in the online program for nearly two years. The first semester I went I did great, both in writing and research as well as multiple choices. The program at the time was very writing intensive. I did much better in the courses that had a lot of writing assignments, such as ten or so short answer and essay questions each week. This prepared me adequately for the multiple choice because by writing all those answers I also retained the definitions of important key words and their deeper meanings. Unfortunately, the program started drastically changing after my first semester. I think some of the students complained that there were too many writing assignments and some of the teachers didn't want to spend all the time grading. So the shift of the program very clearly changed from writing intensive to a more linear, just "memorize the stuff on the BARBI outlines" kind of approach. I feel that this was a mistake and really is why I didn't do nearly as well in my subsequent semesters. The weekly writing assignments were crucial to my understanding and retention. There were also some staff changed at Trinity and those new people seemed to favor a heavy, let's "bombard" the students with one multiple choice test after another, approach. Many of the students I was in class with were getting frustrated. The teachers kept telling us that repetition would make us better. Well, that wasn't the case for me as I actually was getting worse. My confidence was going down as well. All in all if the administrators had kept the program the way it was and not caved to the demands of the students or teachers to change the program, I probably would have done well enough to continue on. I find it sad that so many schools are afraid of asking their students to really do the work and of asking their teachers to spend the time it takes to grade the assignments. Yes, multiple choice are much easier to grade. You simply shift all the responsibility for devising a way of learning the material to the student. Therefore if the student then does badly it ends up being entirely their own fault. It's an unfortunate thing when these important issues are not being considered, and clearly, no matter what some of the current administrators or staff think, Trinity Law students are not benefiting from this linear learning approach because the Bar exam pass rate is even lower now than when I started (from 25% to 18%). Thank you.
