I was also able to get my EDD issues from last summer resolved by reaching out to Richard Blooms office and speaking to a member of his staff. They have weekly scheduled meetings with EDD so they were able to elevate my case by addressing it with EDD directly during these weekly meetings. It didn't happen overnight, as there are lots of us out there with these cases so they are inundated with cases and people calling, but I'd say that between 2 phone calls, and emailing them with all documents and timelines the staff member that I was working with was able to get my case taken care of within a month. I am sorry that Estaban who left a 1 start review who also called for help was brushed off by the person who answered the phone. My advice would be to call back and ask for a supervisor, and also back that up with an email, and then another follow up call. Persistence is key right now, so I hope it's not too late for you to try again and they are able to help, or that you already have resolve with your EDD your case! I am currently now dealing with SDI, and also having the same issues with not being able to reach anyone at the 800# for EDD so going to reach back out to Richard Blooms office again today. I am confident that I will have the same result as my EDD case last summer.

I think his staff is wonderful and they respond to issues within 24hr of me contacting them. They helped me when i had so many problems with EDD when the shut down happened and I had two jobs which got shut down/postponed because of COvid.

I had an issue with my unemployment payment being stuck in pending status so I gave his office a call and explained my situation. They told me they would take care of it for me and contact me later in the day to update me on the status. A man named Josh on his staff was able to speak with a liaison and get the problem solved the same day. I was impressed by his offices ability to help a single individual and the timeliness of its manner. Thank you!

I called in regards to Unemployment hoping someone would help me resolve a payment issue. First guy to answer the phone, I didnt get his name avoided assisting me all together. He just told me to go on their website and fill out a contact form. Do not call this office if youre expected them to fix your EDD problem. Its as disappointing as calling EDD customer service.

I got help from Richard Blooms Office on a complicated EDD case after requesting help from other Elected Officials (whom didnt respond). I also spent hours and hours on the phone for days and did two appeals. To me, they were a godsend! Previously, I met his Staff at community events and they are always friendly and helpful with lots of resources. The EDD was messed up from the very beginning. They are part of the solution not the problem. I find Richard Bloom a responsive Elected Official, whether a City Councilmember, Assemblymember, or the next Board of Supervisor and I have worked with several Elected Officials over the last few decades. Dont blame the messenger. They didnt HAVE to hire additional staff for helping his constituents on their EDD problems and they did! Thank you and keep doing a great job, especially Josh in Santa Monica.
