Stan was amazing. He has been in the neighborhood since the 1980s and is a history scholar, so has lots of knowledge about the Haight ever since the neighborhood came to be as SF grew. I loved hearing all about the influential people who lived in the area especially in the latter half of the 60s. We got our shot in front of the Dead house and made a really cool stop in what could and should be turned into a museum of hippie memorabilia. Coolest archives of prints of the Oracle + concert posters + photographs on the walls. I wish I'd been alive to see it firsthand, but this tour is a really good consolation. :-) On our day, we went long - 3 hours in total. Be sure you allot the time to enjoy the tour and then shop or eat on Haight after.
