I would like to start by saying I've used this spca hospital for many years prior with several pets. Up until this last week they've been a 5 star facility in my eyes that took great care with my pets. Unfortunately this past week a simple call to schedule an appointment for a vaccine ended with the operator hanging up on my mother when my mom became angry and told the receptionist to stop talking over her and to allow her time to explain why she was calling. This was after waiting on hold for 20+ minutes. Alright. My mother shouldn't have gotten angry at the receptionist. She waited and called back after cooling off. The next operator, a gentleman, while trying to help book her an appointment brought up that we had our dog spayed there last year. My mother corrected him and stated that she was scheduled for the spay, but when they got her in and shaved her they found she had already been fixed prior to being picked up by their neighboring shelter - going off of the dark blue spay tattoo she had when we picked her up from said appointment - and the vet explained she was fixed before we adopted her. This was explained to the operator. Instead of just going with it, or instead looking into her medical records that states this occurred ( and if the records don't show this, that's concerning since this was a medical procedure that should have been documented appropriately) he went on to insist several times that she was wrong. That she came in for a spay and was fixed. Again, as stated previously I've taken many pets to this facility over the years. Dogs and cats of both genders. Most of those were spayed/neutered at this facility. Not one of the pets I've owned that were "fixed" here ever had a tattoo placed to show they've been fixed. From my knowledge this is not practiced at this facility. With that being said - how can he so adamantly tell us that a procedure occurred that we know didn't- since when we took her home she had no stitches, no sutures, no soreness. Just a bit drugged from being put under and a shaved belly with a blue, long ago healed tattoo showing she was spayed. While I understand not every patient is correct, and long phone conversations are stressful in an already busy environment there was no need continually insist a medical procedure occurred when it did not. Even if the associates believe us to be incorrect, there is no need for snippy remarks in the name of being right. Maybe it was a bad day in the office or in their personal lives. If you've gotten this far - they provide excellent vet care for the valley. However where this score really goes to is the lack of hospitality or basic respect/common courtesy shown by the phone operators. My mother ended up disconnecting the call after the male operator brought up my dogs "spay" more then 2 times after being told what actually occurred.
