Boulder Dog Training Canine Soul Companions

Review First time pup mama here! We just wrapped up our training program with Alexandra this weekend. We worked with her twice a week since mid-April of 2023 with our now 1 year old mini-doodle puppy. My partner taught our pup lots of party tricks and we knew that she really had the willingness to learn and be trained but we need more hands on training for her and ourselves - this is where Alexandra come in. We worked on a list of goals for our dog and explained that hardest things we think we need work on. Alexandra then did a total evaluation on our puppy and observed us handling her and then was able to give really good feedback. I also really loved that she is one of the very few trainers that doesnt use a shock collar to train your dog but instead she teaches us how to use positive reinforcement and a correction sequence, which has been really effective. Our puppy is a very friendly doodle but she can be a bit bratty and stubborn and want to do things her way - seriously! Alexandra explained that our dog was trying to exert herself as the alpha of the pack and helped us create healthy boundaries and rules that taught her that we are the leaders and will look out for her and make her feel supported and loved. Our pup was a horrible leash walker and would jump on guests - all things we have been able to train her on and correct. My biggest goal was to be able to have my dog be safe and learn her recall - shes been so good ever since weve brought in Alexandra to teach all of us! I had a lot of anxiety about recall and wanted our dog to have a solid recall, stay and place and now I feel like I can trust that my dog will listen and call when shes called. We also practiced some off leash walking at Twin Lakes at the end of our training program this weekend and I was honestly shocked to see how great our dog did! She sniffed hellos to other doggos, played with a couple pups and stood her ground around big dog which can sometimes make her feel nervous. Alexandra is so above and beyond that she even helped me get our dog in the water, splashing and swimming! Alexandra has definitely helped me gain a lot of confidence in being a first time dog mom/ owner and provided us with tools to keep driving our dog down the path of a happy well-trained doggo! We will definitely come back to her for assistance down the line if other behaviors come up. She also offers dog-sitting at our place which is awesome because its very hard to come by genuine humans who we can trust and will care for our fur babies like we would ourselves. Alexandra has been great to work with! We started training with Canine Soul Companions for our 5 year old dog, Poncho. Alexandra provided high quality instruction and worked with us to identify areas of focus for training. She was also very flexible and accommodating for our busy schedule. We love the personalized approach that Alexandra brings to dog training.

Alexandra was so great with our dog Poncho! We did a board and train to kickstart things and then six sessions over several weeks. Each session she would ask us how things were going and what our goals were. I really liked that her training was customized to us, our dog and our family. Poncho learned come, sit, stay, leave it, place, heal, calm and more. We even got in to some agility which I never imagined he would have the patience for but he loves! The training taught valuable skills and strengthened our bond, as well as helped my husband and I gain greater confidence as pet owners.

Alexandra is amazing!! We tried 2 different dog trainers before finding her. We made the investment for her Board & Train program, and it was 10000% worth it. My young poodle had some behavioral problems and she was able to figure out his triggers and reasons behind his behavioral patterns that nobody else could. She tested and observed him, and provided a detailed report about his thought processes that was mind-blowing. She worked incredibly hard while he was with her and I felt so comfortable with her. Alexandra also addressed family dynamics that were causing issues and helped train some stubborn humans on new rules. We understand our dog now and have been able to prevent/fix so many challenges in a short period of time. He is an angel on the leash, calm, and happy! We are still seeing her every once in a while for refresher training and to improve different things, but I can't thank her enough for her expertise and guidance. Highly recommend!!!
