On a Sunday morning, the place did get a little busy but a very pleasant crowd. Service was great. My omelette was cooked perfectly, unfortunately not well done enough for me and that's on me. I could've specified that I like my eggs as dry as cardboard. Seating is very open and tight. Not a place for private conversations but otherwise good atmosphere.

This is a disappointing review to write, moreso to experience. I've been coming here for years, and I've always tried to avoid the angry old man behind the counter. Today I needed to buy about $100 for a little soiree in my French class finale. I made the grievous error of politely asking him to cut the larger ones in half because they were too big to eat at desks. He exploded in fury about this simple task. He is a curmudgeonly, angry, ugly old man who has no business serving customers. I quit selecting the treats before I was finished, and decided to finish my order at another bakery. I will NEVER return here if that nasty man is behind the counter. I drop about $100 - $200/ month here, but someplace else will get our Sunday brunch business until after he's gone. Au revoir, Katherine's. Ok, response to Katherine. READ YOUR BAD REVIEWS. They ALL say the same thing about the same guy. What you're telling us is that customer service is not that important to you. I get it. You don't need my money anymore. Ciao.

Hi Jennifer. I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way. It is true...when customers want us to create smaller items...we call those petits fours and we ask for advance orders so that we can present them in our usual manner...cut smaller, individually cupped, and each piece decorated. Mario is correct to say that we do not cut larger pastries in half or quarters when taken directly from the showcase. We never have and we never will. That is true. We can apologize for his tone and temper, though. Today is a tough day for some reason. Mis-guided Grubhub drivers, internal communications errors, and more. We are sorry that Mario did not give you the level of service you wished. Chef Katherinep.s. Mario told me that you were asking him to cut full-size pastries into small pieces. We do not do that. We can offer petits fours, but Mario said that you did not want that. You were asking him to cut a full-size napoleon into smaller pieces. Without advance notice, that is impossible. Again, we care how our items are presented and that is why we offer petits fours (individually cupped and decorated) for parties where that is a better serving size. The cost is about $2.50 per piece and there is a minimum order of two dozen. He felt that you were pushing him to cut the larger pastries and he was trying to (as nicely as he could) tell you that we do not do that (and many other bakeries here in town may not, either). I have instructed Mario to get me out of my kitchen the next time this question is asked and I will answer it. My answer will be the same of Mario's, and maybe my tone will be better. Chef K
