I went in for a standard cleaning. They ended up telling me I needed some special kind of cleaning. They charged me $400 and said my insurance would cover the rest. I was reluctant at the time and felt they were being shady from the jump but gave it the benefit of the doubt. 6 months later I get a bill in the mail for another $400. My insurance didn't cover any of it. Stamm Dental never provided any caveats, they told me with certainty that this is the amount covered. So, what shouldve been a free dental visit for a standard cleaning turned into $800. Never going back here.

I have been going here for probably about 10 years, and I loved Dr. Kai. However the last few years I've felt like they are just trying to make money off me more than they care about my health. Every appointment, they try to sell me something - Invisalign, laser, toothpaste, a filling, etc. After I did Invisalign to allegedly prevent my teeth from eventually chipping, I started getting more cavities and gum bleeding for some reason despite not changing my dental habits and being diligent about cleaning my trays. A lot of my more recent fillings were in places they had previously filled, so I'm not sure if the original filling didn't work or what. Last time, they told me I needed an inlay. When I told them I couldn't afford to pay the deposit that day, they told me they don't work with people financially and never called me to discuss it which just made me feel like they don't actually care about my dental health. I've had positive and less positive experiences with the hygienists but never complained about them. Some of the poor experiences involved them accusing me of snoring (I'm 41 - you would think I would know if I snore by now), getting bleach on my lips during a whitening and then blaming me for fidgeting after they left the room when I was in pain from the burning, asking way too detailed questions about my vitamins and deficiencies, and just constantly selling me on stuff. When I called to cancel my final appointment and request my records be released, they didn't even care that I was leaving - after 10 or so years. Just emailed me the release form. Bye. UPDATE: I saw a new dentist who, using the most recent x-rays from Stamm, walked me through everything going on in my mouth. I had NO cavities and definitely did not need an inlay. After leaving, they apparently sent a bill to my old house. Because I didn't pay it for a month, they then sent me to collections. They didn't try calling or anything to ask me to pay. So glad I found a new dentist. And so bummed I wasted so many years here.

I had been going to Stamm Dental for close to ten years and had received wonderful care from Dr. Kai and Dental Hygienist Sharon for years. Something changed resulting in those core team-members leaving or it was perhaps a result of their departure that this clinic changed completely. I recommended Stamm Dental to many friends over the years and regret that I did. All of them were repeatedly told we needed Invisalign for a variety of different reasons from grinding, overbites, snoring to cavity prevention. The clinic changed from a comfortable, professional environment with a steady, caring team to an uncomfortable stressful factory of upselling and distrust by a revolving door or employees. I started to dread going here because a routine 6 month cleaning became "you need this and this and this." I paid over $5k for Invisalign I never needed (I had/have perfect straight teeth from 4 years of braces as a teen but do grind in my sleep and simply needed a nightguard which I later learned from two other dentists). What I thought was my final straw there was going in for a consultation for a broken crown which I knew would be a major undertaking needing an extraction, bone graft, implant and new crown. I was quoted almost $8k for this in an uncomfortable new private room that felt like a banker's office. When I regained my senses from the shock, I asked if that included everything including the crown and was met with, "Oh no, that will be an additional charge of $2k." What? They weren't going to include that in my estimate but spring that additional charge on me at the end for a total of $10k? I walked out of the clinic that day with the plan to never return but no, they won't let you go. I continued getting calls, letters, hand-written cards (by employees I'd never been seen by) asking why I'd not set up my next appt. Dr. Stamm herself even called me asking me to come back and because I wanted this harassment to stop, like a fool I scheduled and appt for a cleaning in Nov. 2022. The day of my cleaning I was notified by phone there was no one to clean my teeth so I'd need to reschedule, I did. Then day of the next appt, they exact thing happened again at which time I said I'd be going to a new dentist after ten years with Stamm and to please never contact me again. But it doesn't ever end with them. I received a bill dated Feb. 1, 2024 from "Uptown Smiles" (which I've never heard of) for over $700 with no info, no itemized statement, no explanation or date of treatment, saying the payment was due on Feb. 16. I called the # on the bill to be told this practice bought out Stamm and was collecting "past due" invoices from 2022. I asked for an itemized statement outlining this so-called unpaid treatment from two years prior and was told "We can't provide that." You want me to pay a bill from two years ago that I never received from a new clinic that I've never been to from an invoice you can't provide? Why didn't Stamm ever send me a bill for this supposed treatment from years prior if it was outstanding? Uptown Smiles then sent this over to collections on Feb. 8 though the due date of their bill was Feb. 16. (I finally got an itemized statement from the collections agency which showed I DID pay over $2700 in March 2022 for a crown + my insurance paid on top of that then there was no further mention of this so-called unpaid balance until Feb. 2024 by Uptown Smiles). Stamm Dental, Uptown Smiles, whatever they are calling themselves today are and have been engaging in some highly unscrupulous and unethical practices for years from selling patients care they don't actually need to representing themselves as qualified to administer Invisalign (no one at Stamm dental was a licensed orthodontist) to overcharging (I've been to two other reputable dentists in Denver metro offering the same technology/better care and their prices are significantly lower than Stamm Dental) to harassment (guilting patients into leaving the clinic via mail and phone). Unethical and downright greedy. Dr. Stamm should be ashamed.

I went to this office 4 or 5 times and thought it was fine. Last December they aborted a routine cleaning and told me I needed infection removal. This didnt add up for several reasons: never had these issues and Im very current with my dental care. Also, the RDH, who speaks English as a second language, made the Tx recommendation and didnt even consult with a doctor. I was just moved to the Tx Coord. to pay for a more expensive and invasive appt I didnt need. Two other offices told me that I didnt need this treatment. Ive been in the dental industry since 2015 and I know 2023 was a challenging year. So this just felt like an attempt to bump up production with just 20 days left in the fiscal year. Also had a different doctor at every single visit. Denver has tons of fabulous dentists and you dont have to settle.

Stamm Dental is now Uptown Smiles. I left after going here for 3 cleanings and some fillings. This review is for both Stamm + Uptown. A few things got me to leave: They upsell hard, especially invisalign. It feels like a money grab but first they make you feel bad about your teeth. In addition, during cleanings, they're quick to offer fluoride and push a mouth wash that's an extra fee your insurance probably won't cover. Also, I was unhappy with their billing. I had a dentist with Stamm that filled a cavity in a way that led to some discomfort. I went in three times to have it looked at and try to get my bite fixed. The third time, they took an X-Ray to check that it wasn't cracked. I never received an explanation of benefits that I remember. I thought this was a service they were doing for free because it was related to discomfort caused by a prior procedure and it was a pretty big inconvenience for me. Because of that X-Ray, my insurance company won't cover the recent X-Rays with my last cleaning. It's not a lot of money, but on principal, I don't think I should have needed to pay for this, since it was tied to problematic cavity. Uptown didn't seem to care, I canceled my future appointments and paid for the X-Rays. Honestly I should have left when they (Stamm Dental) did the original filling. This was just the last straw.
