Fantastic staff who go above and beyond to not only educate you on the treatments they are providing but are very transparent on what is needed or not. Also as an anxious dental patient, the team go above and beyond to make me as comfortable as possible for any procedure that I have not ever been offered similar consideration anywhere else prior. Highly recommend!

This was a rough experience for me as someone with severe dental anxiety. I went into the office today for my 6-month dental cleaning. To be as fair as possible, I have pretty bad anxiety generally, but especially at medical/dental appointments. I am sure that my anxiety didn't help, but I've never experienced such poor customer service, nor a healthcare provider failing so badly at engaging in a conversation with me as the patient. With all that said, I just had my last dental cleaning and check up 6 months ago, so stated that I didn't want a "perio" done to check my gums, as they were fine/no issues at the last office I went to 6mos ago. I told the assistant that I would be happy to have it done at my next appointment, but that I didn't see the purpose in having it done twice in one year. She told me she'd bring the dentist in to discuss it with me after we were done with my x-rays. After my x-rays (and another x-ray (?), and some "scan," which also felt completely unnecessary), a hygienist came in to talk to me about the perio. To be clear, my negative review is NOT about the perio and whether/not I needed it, it's about how this employee treated me without any empathy, respect, or curiosity. Instead of asking the simple "why" I felt this way or if she could address any of my concerns, or if I could get my records from the last office for their files, or even just asking me to explain more about what I had said to the assistant, she just immediately started talking about why I needed it/how this was "like telling your doctor that you took your own blood pressure" (which... it is not, since I went to a dentist who did the procedure)/how I might need a deep cleaning and kept repeating, in a condescending tone, "do you understand what I'm saying?" She came off as incredibly confrontational and, as I was already anxious, I struggled to find a way to respond. Each time I tried to explain why I didn't feel I needed it, and that I only wanted a standard/basic teeth cleaning, she would interrupt to begin again telling me why I needed to have a perio/"it doesn't make sense why you wouldn't want us to do this"/"do you understand what I'm saying?" I told her "I feel like you're yelling at me" and very briefly tried to talk about how I had had a poor experience with a dentist in the past/they had tried to over-bill/over-diagnose. She kept repeating that they were not trying to scam me (which I never accused her of- I was talking about a past experience- and if she'd just ASKED why I was hesitant I would've been able to explain). I finally gave up trying to explain and just said "okay fine" because I was on the verge of a panic attack (dramatic I know, but that's mental health sometimes) and knew that she wasn't going to listen to me. I was hoping she would just stop talking at me after I consented but she started again about why I needed it/they weren't trying to scam me/etc. and I got overwhelmed. At that point I said "I think I just need to go and not finish my appointment today" before starting to cry in front of the hygienist and assistant. I feel that I was obviously very anxious (and stated that aloud) and the hygienist just said "okay, well, if you need a minute" in a tone I perceived as completely unphased. I tried to collect myself in the chair but had to stand up and go to the bathroom to get away from the situation. During this whole ordeal, neither assistant nor hygienist ever offered to slow down, take a break, ask me anything about why I felt this way, asked about the past experience, recognized that I was upset, or tried to retain or recover the service. On my way out, the front desk workers were very compassionate when they saw me crying and even offered me a hug before I ultimately left. They asked if there was anything THEY could do (which should have been asked in the back), but at that point I was embarrassed, ashamed, and crying in the lobby (and hating that I was reacting that way, but she made me feel like a complete idiot). I left without the cleaning or being seen by a dentist.

Wynkoop Dental is an amazing place all around! Phoebe and Trez are always amazing at check in. If you send the office an email or give them a call they always get answers for you quickly and do everything they can to fit you into the schedule as needed, whether its an emergency or just to accommodate patients busy schedules. The entire care team is amazing as well! Before proceeding with any treatment they walk you through all your options and the pros and cons to help you arrive at the decision youre most comfortable with. The specialists theyve referred me to for other treatment have been top notch as well. Ive always struggled with sensitive gums and have never been great with flossing as a result. For a variety of reasons Dr. Caitlin recommended an easy in-office fluoride treatment, and since then my gums have felt so much better! I now floss consistently without pain or discomfort for the first time in my life thanks to the team at Wynkoop Dentistry! My teeth feel so much healthier!
