I waited four months for my $75,000 Volvo XC40 Recharge to arrive. The car came with a 24/7 roadside assistance. Within weeks of buying the car, I got a flat. I was stranded in a dark abandoned parking with my child at 9:30pm. The SOS feature in the car malfunctioned. I called Roadside Assistance via the Volvo app and  the only option they offered was to tow my car 250 miles away to the nearest dealer instead of assisting me 'roadside'  and fixing the tire or bringing it to a local tire shop. I was given a huge spell on how Roadside Service would come help me wherever I was. Not so!! My son was suffering an asthma attack and we were left in a perilous situation with no Ubers or Lyfts to be found. The next day,  I contacted Dean Westland, the manager at Rickenbaugh Volvo. Dean  said i called the wrong number and I should have called a number he found on Google not the number in the app. WTF? It was the same number.  The car did not come with a spare. It came with a sealant pump. Even though I paid for 24/7 Roadside assistance, I had no choice to try to use the sealant myself. The cheap plastic couplings immediately failed to perform in 24 degree weather and the compressor spewed sealant all over me. Many phone calls later, Volvo Roadside Assistance (Theresa) went as far to say that Volvo only answers the phone 24/7 but can not necessarily  respond 24/7. It took more than 20 phone calls to have the case escalated to the point that Volvo agreed to tow the car to a local tire store. (btw I had paid for the extra tire insurance). It was made clear to me that towing my car to a local tire shop was a 'special exception' and Volvo would not do it again. It took FORTY HOURS and more than 20 phone calls and countless texts for the tow truck to show up. I realized that this abhorrent level of Roadside Assistance was untenable and I relented to have the vehicle towed to the dealer because I do not feel safe driving this car on interstates or anywhere really. The thought of being stranded on an interstate or a country road would only lead to the same lack of response, especially if the SOS feature fails again. Where is that 'Award Winning Service' Rickenbaugh so proudly touts? I cannot afford 40 hours and a 250 drive every time something happens. And for a measly flat tire? Call it what they may, this is not 24/7 roadside assistance, I do not feel safe with this failure of Volvo to provide the services they offer. Rickenbaugh Volvo is offering to buy this car back from me for 75 cents on the dollar. What crooks!!! Do not do business with these people.
