J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood Glastonbury

First time here and service, food, and vibes were excellent. My boyfriend and I arrived around 5:30pm on a Saturday and were able to be seated in a booth under 10 minutes. Kara was our server and she recommended the halibut (which was a special) and I've never been more impressed with a recommendation. It was perfectly seared and the tomato butter complimented the fish nicely. I trusted her recommendations so I asked her what to get for dessert and she recommended the chocolate velvet cake with a side of the sauce that goes on the berries and cream. Again another excellent suggestion and one of the first places that I've actually felt was worth every penny. We will definitely be back!

This used to be the go to place. No longer. Beyond disappointing. Quality of food is average to barely average. Whats going on in the kitchen mgmt should be on top of it. Pricing kept going up. Now over priced. It was insulting to be service food that looked and tasted day old or worse. The server was polite, professional with standard customer service rhetoric verbalizing her personal opinions on the food. lol! She wasnt paying for a substandard quality entree. The manager is clueless on ensuring customer satisfaction. The lobby is over crowded. Not organized. Other local establishments this place beat by a mile. If I was the area mgr Id turnover mgmt and get some skilled mgmt and skilled kitchen staff pronto! Ive been a patron since inception. Its a shame to have a nice eating to the dogs on multiple levels. Corporate mgmt need to get involved!
