We had our first dental procedure. Never had done this for any dog of mine but it was clear Lily had some issues that could not be ignored. Dr Mary Helen called it - 2 teeth were severely damaged and had to be pulled; otherwise Lily's health would be compromised. It was scary for us bc anesthesia was involved and this was a first for us. Dr Mary Helen and one of the Tech guys - Andrew - were very good at explaining the procedure and reassured us they could handle anything that might arise during the procedure. Lily was there all day, being monitored appropriately, while Andrew kept in touch via text which was very comforting. Lily came home pretty out of it and slept for a straight 12 hours bc of anesthesia. I was a little worried but grateful that she would sleep through so no issues with pain. I couldn't have given a bigger smile when she crept out of beneath our bed the next morning, tail wagging. I have a feeling she was immediately in a lot less pain than before the procedure. On day 3 she's been playful and happy and no indication of discomfort in any way. It was a chunk of money but well worth the professional care she received. We are so relieved that our experience was smooth and easy (for us anyway). Many thanks to the entire staff at Coastal Vet; and especially to Andew for his caring communication. Dr Mary Helen is the best vet I've ever known. It's not day to day humdrum for her; life is important every single day. No issue too small. Thank you from the bottom of our paws.
