Homewood Suites by Hilton Wilmington Downtown

Stayed for one night to go to a show at the Queen. The bed was perfect, super comfortable. They give you a bag with 2 waters, 2 packs of cookies, and a bag of chips at Check in which was nice. Our room was ready early and we checked in around 330 without problem. I'd request a river view, we had parking lot which isn't nearly as fancy. We walked to the Queen using the Riverwalk and walked back at 11pm. It was well lit and did not feel dangerous at all. Would stay here again for another event. Walkability: We used the Riverwalk and it was lovely.

At the price point, this hotel definitely left a lot to be desired. My fiancee and I checked in late this past Friday, tired from driving, to find that our room was speckled with suspicious stains (including a hardened, semi-clear one on the bed). Also, the floors had a sticky-ish residue on them. The design of the room was definitely nice and the view was amazing through the big window, but we couldn't get past the stains. After calling down to the front desk, we were told that new sheets would be brought up shortly, but that we would have to make the beds ourselves. Another phone call and almost half and hour later, a staff member came up with fresh sheets. We have only good things to say about D'Anthony. He truly made the experience better! We appreciated that he did actually put the sheets on for us, and that he was really genuine about his concern and empathy in the situation. We were compensated for the first night, and we really appreciate it, but it's still not great that it happened at all. Breakfast was pretty decent, except for the sausage. The kitchen staff member is very friendly and helpful as well. The patio outside is also lovely and leads right out onto the walkway by the river. This hotel has such potential to be amazing, but the stains and the lack of care taken by the regular housekeeping staff make this one a 2.5. Nearby activities: Not much nearby, but it's relaxing and the waterfront is quite pretty. Food & drinks: They have a waffle machine, which is nice for breakfast. Sausage was not so good but all else was pretty tasty. They also have a little store at the front where you can buy items for purchase at a pretty reasonable price.

I would just like to say the houseman Anthony is such a great help. He is one of the hardest working houseman at this hotel.And Also Kevin the breakfast attendant is wonderful as well. These 2 staff members have been outstanding since the start of my stay. I've been here a while due to a home fire and honestly there is only a select few workers doing what these 2 gentleman do. It's 5 stars for you guys and the select few. The rest of the staff( NOT including Managers they was lovely) a few were rude and even denied doing there job out right( A female front desk attendant) or complain while doing there jobs (female front desk attendant and housekeeping). Alaisia brightens up the front desk with her smiles, politeness, and she is very helpful. There's a few names I don't know but just know you guys out weigh all the negatives.
