Hernando County Building Division

This place reminds me of the Walmart self check out. They want you to do their job and if you get it wrong its on you. I've come back and forth SEVERAL times to submit different items because they don't come out to do it themselves. What do I know about anchoring, setbacks, zoning etc. This isn't my area of expertise. I wish these people were on the same page about all of this.

If anyone ever gets the idea of filing a complaint about someone building a permanent structure on a concrete slab and installing electricity without a permit "forget about it". The county will not enforce it or fine the individual. Also they will have a lame excuse for possible code violations and just give it a "final" approval.

never can get anyone on the phone to answer a few simple questions. NEVER!!! live out of state .

Licensing department is not well trained and has poor customer service (attitude on phone, speaking over customer, not responsive)

The amount of time it takes to get a permit is absolutely RIDICULOUS. They take nearly a month to review it, and if they end up requesting any changes then you have wait ANOTHER month instead of just being able to make any adjustments. They need to get on board with the rest of Florida's counties and get a new portal system. It shouldn't take this long to get a permit!!!!!!!!!!! I wish there was a 0 star option because that's what it deserves
