Shelton Academy

I had to withdraw my son just a month after he started at Shelton school. The teachers are wonderful but the administration is a complete mess. They are all about rules and money. Did not disclose all the fees and charges in advance, we were surprised to learn about the late drop off fees for pre-school weeks after the school started. If your 3 year old is dropped off at 8:15am you will get charged a $5 fee per occurrence. When I pointed out that Parent Handbook did not have the fees they updated it AFTER I pointed it out. They insisted that the fees were disclosed during the introductory meetings, which is a lie (so much for being a Catholic school). Other parents confirmed that they had not been told about the fees. All the while, another member of administration wrote to me that the fees would be effective starting in 2nd semester. They could not even be on the same page amongst themselves! Zero flexibility on anything, whatever we asked we were told NO, there are rules for everything which cannot be broken. Feels like a prison, not a school. The principal lacks any empathy, it was pointless to email her. It's a big school with no heart. If you choose to go with this school ask for all fees and charges in writing! My son is happily back in his old school where the child's and family's well-being is valued above rules and money.

School has gotten really bad since new owners took over. Most teachers and students have left the school.
