Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Downtown

A great stay near downtown Fort Lauderdale. We stayed for fun and enjoyed the pool, bikes, beach chairs and had a great time. The staff was awesome: helpful and kind! The next door restaurants are great too! And we used the circuit to get around too! Downside was the music on weekend at the pool - explicit rap for a while, way too loud. Im past this point in life and needed more chill/happy beach resort vibe than night club thump.

Great concept with rooftop pool and bar, but NOT clean. We are longtime Marriott members and this hotel does not meet their standards. The rooftop pool and view looks amazing. However, you can easily spot dirty used plastic cups beside the pool...where kids are swimming during the day. There was little to no attempt to clean up the pool and bar area from the night before. And, we observed the same effort over the two days that we spent here. The cushions and seating area look nice, but they are stained and spilled drinks are not cleaned from the upholstery or the ground. Zoom in on the photos. We visited this rooftop area multiple times during the day and it was the same in the early morning, midday and in the afternoon. The bar staff made no efforts to clean the bar area before leaving at night as that area was filthy at 8AM in the morning. The hotel may mention that was just after Spring Break, but that is no excuse for the level of uncleanliness. We stayed in a King room which was comfortable and clean. However, the air conditioner rattled loudly every time it turned on which caused us to be awoken every 15 minutes or so during our sleep at night. The traffic on the adjoining road also loud during the night. If you decide to stay here (and we recommend that you don't), do not stay on a floor close to the rooftop as the loud music and noise we keep you awake until the rooftop parties end. Other areas of the hotel were also filthy. There were dirty towels strewn on the ground in the fitness room and empty sunscreen containers just outside the doors. There is no shuttle from this hotel to the airport and the beach is not in walking distance. The breakfast restaurant "Hatch" is across from the front doors and is great. Try it in the morning if you're there. Lastly, on the final bill, the hotel management sneaked an additional "destination fee" charge of $20 USD (plus tax). No other Marriott hotels in Florida did this during our 3-week stay. Furthermore, the hotel was pre-booked through the Marriott-Bonvoy site so the price quoted should have been the price in full...as with all other Marriott hotels. It is not the $20 USD, but the deceitful practice and principle of it.

The location was perfect and we will stay here again! It is within walking distance to many restaurants and The Parker is across the street. I loved the shower setup but did not like there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. It was so steamy after on a few minutes. The bed was comfortable and our daughter loved the sofa bed! We were on the 7th floor, corner room, on the front of the hotel. The very was nice, but the street noise was a bit too loud; racing car engines and honking horns. I did not mind the rooftop party; the base and music helped me forget about the car noise! For the price, I expected some sort of complimentary breakfast. As it was, we waited over 5 minutes at the counter before deciding to leave. No one asked us for our order or if we needed help. The check in and out was great! Both staff members were friendly and polite. The valet was friendly as well. We had the same valet on check in and out. Super sweet man! Sorry, I failed with photos on this trip!
