Stickney Dental, LLC

First, I want to say that I never met Dr. Stickney or his office manager wife (Ronin?), this review is based solely on an employee by the name of Kimberly, who should never be in any sort of customer service role. My husband had an appointment set up at the dental office and they called him the day before his appointment to tell him that they had to reschedule him because he would not be eligible for xrays through our insurance. My husband said that he would call back when he knew his business travel schedule better. After that call, they had called my husband repeatedly, not knowing about that conversation. My husband was already fed up and I told him that I would call to schedule his appointment, which I did but the call was not a very smooth one. I decided that I would drive to the dental office to set up my appointment and get a feel for the office. When I walked in, I approached the receptionist and said that I'd like to set up an exam and dental cleaning. I also explained that I had seen Dr. Dunn (wonderful dentist but does not participate with our insurance) on 8/30/2023 and I would have them send my full series of xrays. As soon as I said that, Kimberly, who sat beside the receptionist, decided to insert herself into the conversation and told me that they do not take other dentists xrays. I told her that I am a cancer survivor and have 2 CTS of my chest and pelvis every year, my cumulative radiation dose is through the roof and I told them that I would discuss with the hygienist or dentist because I don't want any additional xrays this soon. Kimberly said "doesn't matter, we need to take xrays and don't take xrays from other dentists". It was then that I asked to speak with the dentist and Kimberly replied, "he doesn't talk to people off the street" and said his office manager wife was with another (disgruntled?) patient and if I wanted to wait that she would speak with me. I asked Kimberly what her position was in the office, thinking that she had some sort of authority and turns out, she just likes to be a "know it all". At this point I told her that my conversation was an "a" and "b" conversation with the receptionist and she could "c" her way out of it. I cancelled my husbands appointment and did not, for obvious reasons, schedule an appointment for myself. I scheduled my husband and I at a dental office that, when I walked in, I was greeted in a professional and friendly manner. A lovely lady by the name of Payton took the time to verify our insurance and then schedule both of us for our appointments plus asked if I wanted a tour of the office (no, but that's a lovely gesture) I was in the dental field for 20 plus years, working as a dental assistant, office manager and a practice administrator, overseeing multiple offices for a dental company. I know the difference between well trained professionals and what I encountered at that office. It's very unfortunate because looking at the reviews, Dr. Stickney appears to be a wonderful person and dentist but he needs to clean house and get a couple of professionals who look and speak the part of a health care based business.

Just had my first visit and all I can say Dr Stickney and his staff are great. I just moved into the area and all my neighbors recommended Dr. Stickney.

After not having good experience with dental care. Was told I would loose my teeth. After visiting Dr. Stickney was reasured and a plan was made to save my teeth. He is kind , knowable and professional. Won't go anywhere else. I'm on my way to healthy dental care. Also a shout out to the staff. They are awesome and helpful.
