Candlewood Suites Ocala I-75, an IHG Hotel

Nice hotel - easy access to I-75. Common areas nicely-appointed and in good condition. Spacious, clean, comfortable rooms.

Was pleasantly surprised with how nice this hotel is! We had some expectations due to it being part of IHG, but we're not familiar with it. We were using rewards, so chose because of interstate access. Very nice lobby and staff. Room was great size with a mini-kitchen. A bit of a strange entrance, either through a Denny's parking lot or drive further down. There is an empty lot before that drive, and in exiting the interstate, all those drives were right there, but there was no sign to say which this hotel.

Some good, some bad, some ugly. Location is fantastic for quick access to the highway, Ocala proper, WEC. Tons of restaurants close by. Staff generally excellent and attentive, quick to fetch needed supplies. Pool though unheated was a treat on warmer days, it was well maintained. As an extended stay hotel there are issues. - Room layout is tight for 2, especially tight space to sit and eat or watch tv. - Constantly had washer dryer units down, more as our stay progressed, none of the machines were repaired and more kept failing. - All 4 of the EV plug-ins were down for entire stay. Didn't directly affect me but I own an electric and if I had been traveeliing with it I would have been mighty unhappy. .-Lobby coffee was absolutely undrinkable. In room coffeemaker saved the situation. - Room soundproofing not great. Not bad but could use upgrade. - Bed is right next to noisy HVAC, if you're a light sleeper this might be problematic. Biggest concern was we had roaches in the room on arrival. It took them a wasted day before they sprayed, once done problem was gone, but was a less than stellar "welcome to Ocala".
