Fernando Gonzales-Portillo

I cannot recommend Dr. Gonzales Portillo enough! He is a wonderful neurologist, and every visit is a positive experience. His kindness and attentiveness truly stand out, and his staff is equally great, always welcoming and helpful.

On Tuesday at 4:45 pm my mother was called by Amanda teller her she was having a stroke go immediately to hospital. When we arrived advent health had no idea why she was there. We called Portillios office my wife sister in law er Doctor and radiologist no answer from Portillos office. The hospital told us wed have to redo all tests. Radiologist made call to imaging office which thank God was open and sent all information about my mother to be looked over. My wife called Dr. Portillos office. Waited online 45 minutes for somebody to answer the phone. When the phone was finally answered, Monica saying she was the office manager heard what happened made excuses apologized couldnt figure out why Dr. Portillo didnt answer his personal cell when the radiologist called to speak with him and defended Amanda saying that she did send all the information to AdventHealth. The lack of experience and the manner which the front department not the doctor itself. The doctor himself is very nice very polite front staff all need to be fired. Refill medications cannot be filled. Mailboxes are always full and the phone just rings and rings. That is not how you manage an office that is not how you have people under you working in office. The front desk is always the first impression.

One is star is being very generous, they over scheduled patients, staff is completely lost and both Doctors does not give proper treatment and attention or duo lack of knowledge or duo time restriction. DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME.

Do not come to this doctor. Whatsoever! Steer clear. Ive been seen dr Portillo since July for my headaches, told him the meds I was currently on and that every other neurologist has already MMId me , only for him to say well the meds youre currently taking are used to keep you on them, and I dont think your headaches are permanent . He completely removed me off of and placed me on worse medication. I complained to Mr Portillo for several months about the complications of the medication and his response was to reduce the dosage forget the side effects. I explained to him 6 weeks later Im still having the same symptoms and I cant work or go to anyones job in this condition. He re administered the same meds all the way up until July and the crazy part is all of this time hes submitting paperwork stating I was released to full duty basically forcing me back to work, so Nov comes around and now Im seeming his nurse practitioner name Maria who didnt understand why was I still on the medication thats had been making me worse and finally prescribed me something different, some new trial meds. Long story short, go to a doctor that looks out for your best interest not just what he wants for you but what you want for you. This all resulted in my workers comp being cut and my case sadly being resolved unexpectedly . If your workers comp provider tries to give you this doctor have your case worker change it, he is not for the patient, he is strictly in it for the insurances best interest regardless of how the patient feels.
