Hallett Insurance

These are nice people, so this is in no way a reflection on their interpersonal skills but more about their competence. And I take no pleasure in having to write this One Star review, but I feel it is my obligation to warn others. When I decided to switch my Home Owners policy I contacted Hallet and the agent put me into another plan with a new insurer. At the time I specifically asked about my existing plan and dont we have to cancel the other plan. He told me no that will automatically drop. So, I took his word for it. About six months later I get a renewal from the old insurance company and discovered the plan did Not drop automatically but instead I was paying TWO policies for 6-7 Months which was about $700-800 for the old policy. And the older company refused to for the time I was Double Insured. When I called Hallet, he told me They cant do that, thats illegal, they have to refund you.. So he said he would look into it. Then he said he would contact the State to see if this was indeed illegal to Not refund me for the old policy. I never heard back from him. So, just to warn others, make sure if they tell you something like this you check it out yourself and dont take their word for it, that an older replaced policy will automatically be cancelled or that they Cant refuse to refund you for the time you were Double Insured. Call the company you are cancelling and make sure they confirm your policy is cancelled and you will get a refund. So you dont get Screwed out of about $700-800 or More like I did! When we buy insurance from an Agency we are paying for their expertise to protect us from getting scammed, but that is not always the case, as many insurance agents will just wipe their hands clean when you the customer gets screwed as a result of their incompetence.

We have our Home Owners Insurance and Flood Insurance through Hallett Insurance. We have been with them for 6 years. Caroline and her team are very professional and easy to work with. Their customer service is unmatched. In this day and age, where it is hard to get to talk to a real person when you call a company, I truly value the fact that Hallett Insurance is always there to answer my questions, educate me on my options and help me with the process. They offer the best combination of service and pricing that I have encountered to date in my dealings with insurance companies. We highly recommend Hallett Insurance to everyone.
