Alvarez Homes

This is a replacement of my original post. I was upset with how subcontractors were behaving at the site next door to us. But a great guy named Clay turned a bad review into a golden opportunity to show how great Alvarez actually is. Clay came by our home in person and apologized for any inconvenience explaining they had lost a project manager for that site due to personal problems which left them temporarily in the lurch. Clay has taken over, given me his card, and just did a wonderful job of turning something negative into a positive. And so based on that experience I can recommend these guys. Ask for Clay.

Buyer beware!  After giving an initial $10,000 deposit to Alvarez homes, and a month later being asked for another $45,000 despite only having met with Mr. Alvarez once in the interim, we decided to discontinue our project.  Bobby Alvarez refused to produce a detailed accounting of funds used, after multiple requests, and refused to refund any of the deposit.  We have built multiple homes in the past and understand how funds are usually allocated.  We did not ask for a full refund and wanted to cover all work completed and effort to date but also felt we were owed a simple accounting.  A one hour meeting with Mr. Alvarez and a draft of preliminary floor plans does not constitute $10,000 worth of work.  His unprofessionalism, lack of transparency and arrogance were not what we wanted in a long term partner.
