Today was my last day going to Acworth Smiles, and I wont be going back. Ive been going to Acworth Smiles for over 10 years now. Ive always had a pleasant experience with Dr. Bonner and her staff. But over the past few years it feels like their practices have changed just to get more money out of patients. Being deceitful and using pushy tactics almost like a collection agency. They recently started requiring customers to make a $100 deposit when scheduling any major procedure. During my appointment last September It was recommended that I schedule a root canal the very next week. I informed the Dentist, Dr Lee (I believe her name was) that I had an uncle in hospice care and he was expected to pass any day and that I likely won't make the appointment. But she was being very pushy that I should schedule the appointment ASAP and she informed me that as long as I gave a notice that I couldn't make it. Eventually and unfortunately my uncle passed away and I gave almost a week's notice that I could no longer make the appointment. However I was told after the fact that the $100 was non refundable. This frustrated me, because I was not informed of that before, and it seemed like that was done on purpose. Withholding information is the same thing as lying, because had I known that I would not have made the appointment. The receptionist at the front, Aliana, acknowledged that they need to do a better job of letting customers know it's not refundable. Aliana told me she would try to make it right by reaching out to Dr Bonner or upper management and that she would call me back. I never got a call back. November appointment comes, and I ask the same receptionists , Aliana, if they were able to refund the charge. She admitted she forgot and said she'll reach out to Dr Bonner. I never got the phone call. Then my December appointment comes, Aliana gives me the same excuse. Also on that same December appointment Aliana overcharged me by $100 for my appointment even after we had already agreed on what the charges were. Something told me to check my checking account while I was in the waiting area. It was my doubts about her integrity that caused me to check my account and thankfully I caught it and she refunded me otherwise they would've got another $100 out of me. So here we are in March 2024, I called a few days before my appointment. They told me they refunded that deposit but they couldn't tell me what date or what account it went back to. I said ok fine, I checked all my accounts, the only refund I saw was the one Aliana refunded in December. So now I've decided, if this couldn't be resolved on my next appointment then It will be the last time they see me. I'm not being taken seriously and I keep getting the runaround. My appointment was on March 21st 2024. I saw the receptionist Aliana, I reminded her of the situation and she said she already talked to Dr Bonner and said it couldn't be done. Honestly I didn't believe her. Because I've been asking about this since September and Aliana said many times she would ask and call me back. At this point I told her to cancel my appointment and that I was never coming back. Honestly I don't want to fight over $100 but I don't appreciate being taken advantage of. I still may reach out to upper management myself which is something I should've done myself months ago. I hope when they see this they realize they lost a long time loyal customer all over $100. It's so unfortunate. It's going to be very funny and ironic if they respond with their generic response of asking anyone making a complaint to call the office, which is exactly what I've been doing for the past several months.
