PEACE Academy Charter

Update after a year in. Still thankful for this school and every one here who has dedicated their lives to educating our children. My kindergartener has improved so much and I truly appreciate the transparency from her teacher so we can work together to make sure she's doing her best. I see a lot of reviews about high crime and classroom size and all of that, none of those factors have ever been an issue for me and many other parents. The bottom line is the school is doing the work and everyone is invested and that's what matters.

Anyone thats speaking bad on this school has serious issues. I was never satisfied with class room settings at my daughter previous schools due to large sizes. I felt as if she wasnt getting the proper education she deserved. I enrolled her into Peace Academy, and Im beyond grateful! What really caught my eye, was I notice there werent a lot of class rooms. Also, the classes are much smaller. I love it because it gives the teachers a chance to help students independently. Her 2nd grade teacher Ms. Kalyn is wonderful!! She believes in her students and works tirelessly to make sure her students are learning and grasping on to lessons. My daughter has excelled in ways I couldnt imagine. I also love how the entire staff pretty much knows each childs name, and how they consider the students their babies. Lets not forget how everyday is black history appreciation at Peace Academy. Im grateful that my daughter is being exposed to not only her history, but the truth about who she is and where she comes from. Parents are allowed to walk their kids to class everyday and I CAN NOT forget about the music thats playing outside when parents arrive to drop their babies off. The staff stands outside waiting for the students to arrive regardless of the weather. This is something that area desperately needed. My daughter comes home everyday telling me what she learned. Shes learning things I never learned while in school. Im beyond thankful for Peace Academy.

Overall I love the school. It just opened and things seem to be going well. I specifically love my childs teacher Mrs. Kalyn and I can appreciate the progressive cultural methodology this institution uses to handle rearing the children. Its a very difficult and pivotal time in education and I think is important we keep an open mind and give them grace. This is a gem within the neighborhood. Like anything else, of course there is room for improvement but for them to have just opened their doors, we are certainly off to a great start. Any issues or areas I feel uncomfortable with regarding my child I feel comfortable communicating directly to the adult community within the school. They really do what they can, I havent received any attitudes or nuances like that so Im going to keep my baby here until its time for him to move on.

My daughter is in the third grade here. I am beyond grateful for her teacher Miss Carol . This week I was called in for a parent teacher conference because my daughter was being disruptive in class . However, it ended up turning into one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had with a teacher. She was so loving and kind, and she showed a level of empathy that was truly amazing. She handled the situation with such gentleness and care that it left me in tears. She spoke to my daughter with positive affirmations and encouragement, rather than only reprimanding her. As a result, my daughter (and myself) left the conference feeling inspired and motivated instead of feeling like she had gotten in trouble. I am grateful to have such an amazing teacher for my daughter. Miss Carol is such a gem . She is truly teaching with love . All of the kids in her classroom are so lucky . I cant express enough how special this school is . I wish I could give more than 5 stars omg . Thank you Peace Academy. Thank you , thank you, thank you Miss Carol .
