Visited the island for some military training, CJJF Central was the first gym I visited and they were fantastic! They were extremely welcoming, great environment for both families and competitors and the Coach teaching the Monday and Wednesday classes is extremely knowledgeable! If I ever get stationed out here, this is where I am training! Mahalo!

The bad: My wife realized that she was not that into jiu-jitsu, and would prefer to do kickboxing. They said they would offer this in the future potentially, so we cancelled the membership. If they offered kick boxing in the future, she would have went to this gym. Now for the trip. In 4 weeks my wife was charged $496. She only went to 3 classes, and got a gi. Nov 29. - $146 and $15 Dec 06 - $42 Dec 13 - $42 Dec 27 - $42 and $162 When questioned about the charges, they asked to call, and would not put it into writing for days. She emailed, and texted them until they finally laid it out clearly. $99 registration fee, plus the first week. It is $42 a week. And then a cancellation fee of $162 to cover the Gi Honestly the easiest money I have ever lost, and she really was hoping to do kick boxing with them in the future. 3 lessons and a Gi is all she got out of nearly $500. Super unprofessional with the way they handled accounting, and members asking for a statement of charges. Also. . . To get to the location it's down a dark alley, and up dark stairs. The good: The instructors all seemed really professional, and seemed like they knew what they were doing. High energy, and honestly looked like a lot of fun. The pride they take in the classes that they teach was really awesome. For a white belt, they really break it down to the basics, and then if they see anyone struggling they will take the time to assist them. Honestly, I was looking forward to taking her to do kickboxing there in the future, but the price over 4 weeks put a sour taste in my mouth. All I am saying is be careful with giving them your money, you better be fully committed to this.

The BJJ classes for adults are outstanding challenging, engaging, and led by skilled instructors who genuinely care about our progress. The atmosphere is inclusive, the facility is top-notch, and the camaraderie is unbeatable. If you're looking for a BJJ gym that caters to both adults and families, CJJF is the perfect fit!

My 2 girls have been attending classes here for about a year and they absolutely love it. The encouragement and positivity they get from all the coaches there has really brought out their interest in this martial art. Right from the beginning, everyone was so welcoming, patient and pleasant. I also appreciate that the gym is clean and has bathrooms along with seating for parents to wait and watch their kids class. The lead teachers are good and explain everything thoroughly. This is a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a positive and professional place to train in martial arts. It is conveniently located along Kamehameha Hwy in the shopping/eating center in Waimalu where the locally famous Shiros Saimin is. Definitely a place worth checking out.

I highly recommend checking out this gym. I dropped in because I was looking for a place to train while I was on vacation. I am so glad that I chose CJJF Central. Every interaction I had from the beginners class instructor and advanced class instructor to the head professor was absolutely amazing. I was welcomed with open arms and had such a fun time that I'm itching to plan another trip and train here. FYI - Location is on the second floor and you need to get buzzed in to get through the locked gate on the left of the building. Once you enter the walkway follow the stairways to the right and enter the gym through the back door which has the CJJF logo. Do not hesitate to try out this gym. You will not regret it.

Aloha Tristan,This is Coach Mel. It was such a pleasure to meet you and your wife. And I’m sorry it didn’t work out for her after all. She was so excited and doing so great. We did start that Striking class as we said and it’s going really good if you guys are interested our doors are still open for her. I see that you mentioned that she was really hoping to do kickboxing with us in the future. I do wish she maximized her experience by attending all the other classes that she signed up and paid for. I was looking forward to training with her and was wondering if everything was okay.I’m sorry your experience was not as you expected regarding the accounting and communication. We do our best to address all matters in a timely fashion and maintain a friendly, positive, and professional environment for all our members here at CJJf Central. It was a pleasure to meet you both and I’m sorry it didn’t work out for her after all. We wish you guys well and our doors are always open if she ever decides to give it a try again.
