Ala Moana Dental Care

The staff made me feel so comfortable; like we were old friends! I would recommend them to everyone I know.

When I was living in Hawaii, I loved this dentist. I could always get in super quickly, the staff is friendly, they have great hours, and I loved that they offer their own in house insurance. Now that Im back in California, I am noticing that the quality of their care was pretty low, at least for me. Shortly after moving from Hawaii I saw a dentist in California. I wanted to replace a filling on my front tooth because the dentist at ala moana didnt match the color perfectly when I had them redo it (I chipped my tooth as a kid and the old filling was 15 years old). The filling that was done makes my smile seem yellow and I just wanted to brighten it up. The dentist here took my small filling and apparently made it so large that Ive had multiple dentists tell me that if I want to fix it I would need a veneer so that it would be stable on the tooth. The last and MOST disappointing part of the care that I received here is that I was receiving regular cleanings here for a good chunk of time, and after seeking care in California I was told I had advanced tarter build (black in color to be exact). How disgusting! I generally take good care of my teeth, but I do not think I was benefiting from the dental care at this clinic at all. Black tarter takes awhile to build up, and with the time of my last appointment here to my most recent dental cleaning, it wasnt enough time to allow for tarter to build up to turn black.

Shout out to Hygienist Karen for cleaning my teeth, I can feel each individual tooth now, she is thorough! Shout out to Dr. Koyanagi for letting me know what I needed work on.

Husband went in for an extraction and came out worse! They have turned off their reviews on Facebook! That should tell you something. Be sure to read the reviews left on YELP!

The convenience of the office hours, and the professionalism of the staff is outstanding. I chose to see Dr. Komenaka exclusively because I prefer to establish care with a consistent provider, and also because Dr. Komanaka is great. But all the dentists there are great!
