AGS Honolulu (Aloha Got Soul)

Stopped by on vacation to see a very nice selection, super friendly staff and they threw in a free record from their own label!

Was visiting Oahu from Kauai, hoping that I could find a vinyl shop that sold Japanese city pop. I just knew that there was bound to be a spot with the culture out here and I was right! I found Aloha Got Soul and man did they have a collection! I walked in and was immediately greeted by the employees who asked what I was looking for and pointed me to the bin I was looking for! They also even set up a turntable so I could listen to whatevers! I was looking and hoping to get my hands on some Tatsuro Yamashita but unfortunately they sold out of his stuff prior to my visit, but the employee took my info down and asked me for everything on my wishlist! He told me that theyd notify me if they ever got any of my wishlist in. I had a great visit annd walked out with numerous records! The craziest thing was that I didnt realize that I walked in right before their closing. I didnt realize this until I saw their hours up on a IG post after leaving the store, but they let me take my time and didnt rush me out! They even talked story with me for a while! Shows these guys are passionate about music and helping others on their journey to discovering new music. A few days later I got a call from one of the employees telling me that they got a ton of Tatsuro Yamashita in after I left! He sounded excited to inform me! He told me he remembered me immediately and had to call me asap! They helped me get first grabs and made the process easy for me to buy some of the music I was dying to get my hands on! Such an incredible shop! I wish I could go there on the weekly to talk story and discover new music! Definitely gonna be buying from them again!
