Fairmont Orchid - Hawaii

Beautiful hotel. The location Is wonderful and the beach area is great. They want to be a five-star hotel, but the service provided simply isnt at that level. We stayed a week and each day had some disappointments.

We checked out of an air bnb in Kona and checked into the Fairmont Orchid on my birthday. What a difference! Received spectacular servicewarm greetings and leis upon arrival. The resort was beautiful. I liked the planted orchids and hibiscus bushes throughout the resort and that everything was fairly close to walk to. I stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa last time which was huge so the Fairmont Orchid feels much more cozy. Went snorkeling at the beach on the resort and saw some fish including a few humuhumunukunukuapuaas and the pool is open 24/7 which was very convenient. I loved that reusable water bottles were provided with many high quality filtered water stations, although I wish the water bottles had a more secure lid for traveling purposes, since you can only hold them upright or else they will spill/leak. I enjoyed dining at Browns beach house-was able to book a reservation online and there was live music during our dinner. I did notice mold in the shower grout and was upgraded to a different room which still had some mold but it was much better. (I guess a lot of hotels have this in the showers unfortunately, so its hard to completely avoid, but I am sensitive to mold and am very appreciative of Renalyn and Maxine for handling the situation so well.) Only thing is the phone number for the personal concierge didnt work when I tried to text back. Internet was also extremely slow, which made it difficult to get some work done. However, I would definitely consider coming back here for the wonderful service. Thank you to the awesome staff for making my stay comfortable and memorable!

The property was beautiful, and the Gold Level truly put us over the top, but it was the staff that really made the trip extra special for us. Concierges Keisha, Sam and Juliana were outstanding. Cory and Chris made us feel so at home in the Gold dining area, as did Nellie. The cleaning staff also deserve a big thank you. Not only will we be returning to the property, we are now planning visits to other Fairmont Gold properties.
