    Buyer BEWARE I took my Mom's in to fix a stuck trunk. The supervisor told me it was fixed, so I happily paid $206.91. I went home and tried the trunk it had the same problem. I took it back and the Manager tried the trunk- he had the same problem. The tech came out and jumped up and down to get the trunk open. He weighs about 100 lbs more than me. This is not the answer. The supervisor said since I signed to pick up the car, I still had to pay, even though the problem was never fixed. Worst experience ever. Will have to pursue legal remedy - what a scam.

Chris, I'm sorry you are not satisfied with your experience at my shop. My name is Cole, the owner and operator of Professional Automotive Service. I am born and raised on the island of Kauai and definitely pride my shop in professionalism rather than a "scam" like mentioned in your review. I understand your frustration as the trunk would not open for you after leaving the shop, but I can assure you it was opening properly for us multiple times, as I saw it with my own eyes. The working of your trunk is more complex than one would think. Your vehicle has an electronic controlled latch, along with a cable that runs to the driver seat area and has a manual lever that will pop the trunk. During our diagnostic yesterday, we were unable to get the trunk open either way, from the key fob or from the manual lever. My technician was able to get the trunk open and found the release cable had been tampered with, along with the emergency release from inside, and the latch mechanism to fold down the rear seat. The manual cable wasn't in its’ retainers as it should be, and the cable end was popped out of the bracket that allows it to open the trunk latch when the lever is pulled inside. We reattached the cable, closed the trunk, pulled the lever, and the trunk opened as it should. We also were able to get it to open from the key fob. We did this multiple times with myself and the tech working on it and with one of my service advisors witnessing this. We moved on to your next concern, the check engine light which turned out to not be a check engine light but a tire pressure monitoring light. We used our scan tool and gave you an estimate to replace the tire sensor that was causing the light, and you did not approve it. You were not charged $206.91 for the trunk concern, rather you were charged 1/2hr diagnosis fee for both concerns and we installed no parts. You originally agreed to the diagnosis of the trunk being stuck shut and check engine light at 1.0hrs each. We however did not charge the full hour for both of your concerns. We cut them both down to half an hour, which I feel is very fair considering the time we spent on the vehicle. When you came back due to trunk not opening for you, we immediately attended to your vehicle and found in fact it would not open. The tech was able to get it opened and we realized there is an intermittent issue with the electronic latch for the trunk (not something that was present for us the day before when it was operating as it should) and we said we would get you a price to replace it and your trunk would be fixed. But you declined our offer. I'm not sure where the animosity and need to post a bad review came from, but I feel we were very accommodating to you from the start and have done everything we could to get your vehicle operating as it should. If you really feel like we scammed you and are not happy with this outcome, please come in and speak with me in person. I will be calling you tomorrow to discuss this further. Have a good day.
