im writing this so more people are aware of the nature of the woman named amy who administers road tests. to start off id like to say that i work next door and hear this woman yell at her poor victims every single day outside of our establishment. shes completely unprofessional and inappropriate in her language and especially her actions. she addresses the mistakes the driver made during the test and antagonizes them VERY LOUDLY, and if theyre under 21 she brings along the person accompanying them and embarrasses them in front them too. im not sure if she has to do this since the driver is under 21?? but i would completely understand her doing it if it felt more like a learning experience conversation and she was friendly but its ENTIRELY the opposite. it almost feels like a power play. to add on to that ive also had multiple friends take the test multiple times with this woman and i havent known a single one to pass. theyve also all told me about how hostile she was during the test practically screaming at them and just making the entire situation very uncomfortable along with (like i said) using inappropriate and unprofessional language. ive been hoping to get my license at this dmv since its on my side of the island but considering everything ive witnessed ill be avoiding this place at all costs when it comes to the road test going forward.

Called this DMV for customer service just to get my questions answered and the lady i spoke to was just rude. Sounded like she was irritated with something but thats definitely not mine or anyone elses problem. I wish i got her name so something couldve been done. Definitely wouldnt go to this DMV ever just because the ladys on the phone are never polite! If you hate your job just leave. No need for be rude to people who are coming to you for help.

Went in with aloha of my happy birthday. Getting my Hawaii ID renewal. Didn't tell my store of OGG, and TSA wanting to State of Hawaii ID away. When my number was called, went to the counter explained it was going to be my birthday. She asked drivers license renewal? My reply, no. I could. However, it would be illegal in the State of Hawaii. Just my ID renewal was all that was needed. Photofinish turned out well. But bring lots of coin with you. Expensive.

Went to take my road test and the woman administering the road test (Amy, the same lady everyone else in the reviews has been talking about for years) was an absolute BULLY from the very beginning. Shes definitely the rudest and most condescending person Ive ever met. Not only did she practically berate me while I was in the midst of my test, she continuously gave me a very passive aggressive attitude and was very harsh (before we stepped foot into the car). Instead of just letting me do what I believed was right (since it's literally MY test), she badgered me when she felt I was taking too long, and by badgering, I mean practically yelling. I almost asked her to get out of my car then and there as at that point I didn't care if I passed or failed, I just wanted her out of my car. Jules below was extremely correct in everything she said. I feel horribly for the kids who are learning how to drive and will have to take their first test with such a HORRID person. I dont expect them to be hospitable or kind at all, actually, but let me do what I need to do without CONSTANTLY belittling people. Do better. Also, if there's THIS many people complaining about the same person for YEARS ON END, maybe fire them considering this is the COUNTY of Maui. Horrible representation. Lahaina DMV would do much better without someone like that. Obviously (look at the ratings).
