I made a reservation online using my Boise address. I live 21 miles away and I was in town for a Dance Competition that was going to end late one night be need to be back early the next morning. I went to check in and they would not let me stay here because I live within 30 miles of this hotel. And they refuse to made any exceptions. Another Dance mom tried staying there as well as was denied a room as well. I have never heard of a hotel having this policy so I didn't know I needed to check. Seems bad business to not want to rent rooms out. Noteworthy details: Don't stay here, terrible customer service and they don't actually want to rent their rooms out.

Beware If you live within 30 miles you cannot stay here Needed a place for my family of 4 to stay during a home renovation project . Booked the family suite online using my home address.. No problem, reservation was confirmed. Decided to read reviews today. Several reviews posted about reservations being denied at check in. Thank you to those who reviewed, you saved me tons of headache. Confirmed via phone call to hotel front desk they will not let you keep your reservation if you live locally. No sob story exceptions either. Too bad for them, missed out on a good chunk of change. Now staying at a local Hilton who will get my $$$ because they do not discriminate against where you are from. Noteworthy details: Will not honor reservations from patties who live within 30 miles. Denied room at check in. We will never do business with ANY BestWestern ever again. **update** They claim this policy is listed on their website. It likely is listed somewhere in the hidden corners of their website even so, it doesnt make their policy any less offensive to anyone local who may need a room for a night. Not everyone who stays in a local hotel are hookers, dope heads or party animals. Get a clue

This was the absolute worst hotel stay we've ever expeienced, we've stayed at a lot of Best Western Hotels and are rewards members we've never had service like this. To Start with we booked a military rate online as I'm a retired service member. Upon checking in the clerk wanted to see ID, I presented my ID and she said it had to be an Idaho State ID to get the Government/Military rate. I said you're confused we didn't book the Government rate we booked the Military rate. She replied no, you need to show me Idaho State ID, and proceeded to show us a printed memo from the manager. My wife asked to call Best Western directly to sort this matter out, we had no cell service as we are from Canada and didn't extend our coverage. She allowed us to use her phone to contact Best Western Customer service. My wife spoke to Best Western and they were very helpful and advised they would honour the booking. My wife gave the phone back to the clerk who had a conversation with the best western rep. She then hung up the phone. We thought OK we're back on track and can continue our booking in process. The clerk then advised us that she was cancelling our booking, she stated that this Best Western was individually owned and operated and therefore they could set the rules and do what they pleased. She stated that Best Western was going to reimburse us for the difference charged in the rate but would then bill the Hotel directly for the difference. She stated that she was in contact with her manager during this conversation via text message and he had advised her to cancel the booking. We were stunned and were not sure what to do, we had just driven for 13 hours coming from Las Vegas, we were tired, hungry and mentally exhausted, we did not know where to go. My wife asked if we could use the phone to again contact Best Western to see if we could sort this out. The clerk refused our request and said, "NO it's our phone you can't use it my manager said you should leave and if you don't I'm calling the Cops!!" Again we were stunned, my wife said go ahead we're not leaving until we have a place to go or you rent us a room. The clerk picked up the phone and dialed 911, again we were stunned, both my wife and myself had careers in the court system in Canada I am a retired Sheriff and Assistant Deputy Warden of a provincial Correctional Centre and she is a retired Justice of the Peace. While on the phone to 911 she answered questions posed by the 911 operator including whether we had any weapons or were threatening her, she replied No to both of those questions. While waiting on 911 she got a text from her manager. She then told the 911 operator that we had left, we did not leave we were still standing there. she then said oh my manager said to book you in and give you the rate, "Silly me I didn't read page 2 of our policy" She then proceeded to book us in. It was like a bad scene from the Twilight Zone, what the heck just happened. I said to the clerk , "So you're booking us in after you called the police on us?" She said "oh ya, well my manager doen't always get things right I'm just following our policy" She then booked us into a room, at 5:00am we were awakened by noises coming from below us followed by the smell of Bacon being cooked, the smell of bacon soon heavily permeated the room, I should also point out that we are vegetarians and don't have any issue with those the consume meat, but it is really offensive to be awakened at 5:00am and then be assaulted by the olfactory overload of bacon!! Turns out the thoughtful manager and clerk gave us a room directly above the breakfast area. We tried to sleep and then gave up and went downstairs to try and find something to eat and then checked out as fast as we could. This experience will be one for the memory book and I'm sure we will tell a lot of our friends about this. If I were involved in the Best Western Management team I would take a close look at this hotel to determine if it meets the standards of Best Western Plus. Noteworthy details: Take our advice, stay somewhere else.

Hi Brenda,Please accept my apologies. You stated to the staff and I that you saw our policy before booking, and thought that an exception would be made, due to you attending a dance competition. As we explained, we have to enforce out policy equally and are unable to make exceptions.Thank You for your understanding.

Thank You fir your review, Jane Doe. We have this policy listed on every website that we are bookable on, I apologize if it was missed or overlooked when you booked. Unfortunately, when you book online, the booking system does not recognize a local address at the time of booking. I am happy to know that you found a hotel in the area that you were able to stay at.
