After dismissing the initial uneasy feeling I had from the beginning, I gave Jason a shot to work with me as my lender for the purchase of my 1st home. Proud & exciting moment as a single mom right? It took almost two months to get all the way to closing, and mind you I was packed, uhaul rented, notice sent to landlord, & kids picked out their rooms. I’m not sure where to begin as far as where or when things went wrong, or maybe I was lied to from the start. I lost Ernest money, rent money, moving services money, inspection money, and time spent. Not to mention how humiliating and disheartening it was to tell everyone, especially my kids, that I not only wasn’t getting the house, but I never even qualified to begin with. Jason had me borrow “gift” money on two separate occasions from an outside source, on top of trying to attach an outstanding balance affecting my credit onto the loan, which would’ve had the seller responsible. It doesn’t end there. Magically 2 days before closing (I had 3 different closing dates extended bc of this mess) Jason said that he found another loan help program that I qualified for. This would’ve been great news had he had my best interest in mind from the beginning, or even better, had I truly qualified for THAT one too! Because I didn’t. Files and documents were misplaced, emails and rush orders were placed and communication was awful unless I had the help of my realtor and another kind employee at gateway that stepped in who really didn’t have to but did. I literally got a text from Jason “currently in the hair chair” the day I was supposed to hear back from underwriting about closing, after not being able to reach him for hours. This has been the most trying and humiliating experience thinking that I had worked hard on my finances and credit as a single mom and I had done it! I was purchasing a home all by myself! Fail. Big fail.
