image I came here to get something, and they had some items on clearance. I got a basket full of items. When I checked out I asked the cashier to keep an eye on the items as they rang up because I had gotten some clearance items here a couple weeks earlier and there were quite a few of the items that were marked on clearance that did not ring up at the clearance price. We'll needless to say she didn't keep an eye on the register as she seemed to be overwhelmed but such a large order. I had to keep an eye on the little credit card display to see if they rang up correctly. I caught a LOT, but it was difficult because that display was about 3 items behind where she was ringing. She acted perterbed when she had to go back and find the ones that rang up wrong. I shouldn't have had to do for her what I had asked her to do. But there was about 5 to 10% that snuck through at the wrong price while I was unloading the basket. I was not happy when I got home to find that. The items I got were 90% off, so I got charged 90% more than I should have on those items. It's probably about $100.
As I reviewed the receipt, I was upset. It was over 3 weeks ago, and I am only now posting my review because I wanted to be fair and not leave an angry review. One thing that upsets me is being charged the wrong price.
My experience a couple of weeks earlier was not bad at all. The guy who checked me out was very careful and caught all of the pricing errors in the clearance items.
Ace hardware is an overpriced, convenience hardware store to start with. You know that going in, but it's a whole new ball game when you're charged regular prices for clearance items.
This is my experience, the other times that I have been in have been expensive but good. Hopefully your experience is different.
I will withhold recommending or not recommending at this time.
