    Three reasons why I really like bringing my cars to Florin: 1.) He is competitive with the dealership on both labor and parts. His total prices are about 20%-25% lower in my experience. And he is willing to help figure out ways to save his customers money. My car has a bent wheel. It has 60K miles, and we plan to sell it in a year. Florin was more than happy to spend some extra time to see if he could find a * used * replacement. That would not happen at a dealership. 2.) Florin diagnoses issues without charging a diagnostic fee. And then he comes up with a cost-reasonable fix. Today, I dropped off my A3 and noted a constant humming noise, which has really been bothering me. The root cause had been misdiagnosed elsewhere. Florin thought it might be a bad bearing, but he confirmed that by taking a test drive. I like seeing car problems for myself and said I would be right over, just to check it out. Florin put the wheel back on, raised the car on the lift, gave it some gas, and showed me the problem. That's service. 3.) Florin does not recommend work that does not need to be done. I recently had a free multi-point check at the dealership, which noted a small amount of oil seeping from the engine. It would have cost $2500 to fix, for a car with 60K miles. Florin looked into it. Yes, there was some seepage, but it was not a major issue, it certainly was not a safety problem, and he recommended not fixing it. Gotta love a trusted repair shop that does not try to sell unnecessary work. We have been bringing our Audi A3 and, previously, our Range Rover Sport to Florin for years. I strongly recommend Florin and his shop.

    Over 30 years ago, I took my BMW to a mechanic who had been referred to me. His name was Bill Nemitz. He was working as a mechanic at a repair shop. My check engine light was on and the car was running really rough. It sounded bad. When I dropped the car off, Bill said "oh that's bad. I will look at it, but if it is what I think it might be, things could get expensive." I left. the car. Needless to say, I did not have a good day that day. I was very concerned about this big repair bill I was anticipating. When I got to the shop, Bill told me that there really was no problem with the car. I had left the oil cap off and that is what caused the engine light to come on, the car to run rough and the sound. "No charge" Bill said. I told Bill at that time, "you have a customer for life." Bill soon left the other shop and opened the predecessor to Lincoln Park Imports, Chicago Imports. I continued to take all of my cars there over 30 years, other than the ones covered by a warranty which required me to take it to a car dealer. Bill continued to treat me and all the people who I referred to Bill more than fairly. The present owner, Florin, was Bill's right hand man. Bill eventually exited the business and Florin started running it. The culture that Bill had built at the company continued, and continues, to be evident. I continued to take our cars there and continue to this day. Yesterday, I dropped my daughter's car at Lincoln Park Imports. The check engine light was on, as was the airbag light. It seemed to be running ok, but I was concerned about the lights. About 4 hours later, Florin called me and told me that the brackets on the airbag were loose and he tightened them. I told him when I would come pick it and and then he told me "no charge". Like Bill over 30 years ago, he could have made up some issue and charged me whatever he wanted to charge me. But he didn't. He did the right thing. And like with Bill 30 years ago, I will continue to be his customer for life!
