Very home-like feel if you're looking for an intimate environment or a staycation. The decor is pro white American 1920 nostalgic, not a problem with me, it's just so cliche for the neighborhood and for a building that was once white's only. It's like they're commemorating that point in history. I hate feeling like I'm in a place that is meant to remind white folks of "the good old days." Though, I imagine that 99% of their visitors are white and love it. Other than that, the tv is continuously freezing, which suggests a need for better wifi and of course you can hear every step anyone makes as expected. I can say that this is our new "at home hide away." This is, hands down, the coziest room we've ever visited.

I never got to see the inside of the place. There was nowhere to park within an 8 block radius. I had to find somewhere else to stay. I fully expected to pay for that night's stay but they wouldn't refund the next night's charges. Combine all that with the pre-stay paperwork you need to fill out in advance and I would not recommend.

Wonderful stay! It is a charming step back in time, with updated amenities. A comfortable common area and kitchen. Great location near the train. Had a slight hiccup at check in and Ashley was very responsive and we sorted it out quickly. Rooms: Mine had a small attached half bath. Safety: As a single older woman traveling alone I felt very safe. Food & drinks: Continental breakfast and kitchen available

The Old Chicago Inn is a true gem were very happy to have found this place! Super close to the red line (not even 2 bocks), lots of things going on in this area & this isnt even the major downtown part of Chicago. There is also a Chicago police department right across from the Inn; always felt very safe at night and throughout the day:). Our room, and separate, but private, bathroom, were both adequate for our needs and we personally didnt need much of anything else to get buy. SHARED KITCHEN: I would advise bringing some of your own crockery, as there were quite little here. There are pots and pans and a gas stove as well as brand new fridge. Otherwise than that minuscule bump in the road, this place exudes living simplistically in a quaint and comfortable way. Very cute common areas, entire place is well decorated. You feel like Julie in Julie and Julia except youre in Chicago, & theres no Julia Child. Trader Todds next door is a karaoke bar, SO fun. Definitely a younger crowd vibe. We stopped in for an hour, listened & hung out. Definitely an activity for a groups of friends! Chicago is your oyster, explore. ** there was no hand soap, or body soap in our bathroom; thats why 4/5 stars on service rating.
