Contrary to the other review, I have never met someone as professional as John. He was so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure everything was done on time and I could not be more thankful. His coworker Joyce was just as awesome and I recommend them to everyone I know. Thanks for saving me during tax season, it doesn't go unnoticed!

I really like John, and my family has been working with him for years (and continues to) on both personal and business taxes. I'm not sure what is going on on their end in my particular situation, but it might be helpful to read in case you are deciding between multiple accountants. This ends with countless emails from me ignored by the firm, following their terrible advice, being sent to collections, and I'm currently still trying to fix their mistake but with none of their support.
Here is the situation: John Ratliff prepared my 2016 taxes but left line 16 empty on my 1040 which triggered an inconsistent (and unpaid) payment due to The Department of Revenue. When I started getting bills from them I asked John and Joyce what to do. They said they'd look into it, but John filled everything out correctly, so this is the Department of Revenue's problem and I should just ignore it. More notices came in the mail and they kept telling me to ignore it because their work was correct. I follow their advice but nothing gets fixed, in fact penalties start piling up. This goes on for nearly a year. I get sent to debt collections.
Finally, I call the Department of Revenue and they very clearly explain the problem and give me a clear solution. John did not fill out line 16 on my 1040 (it's true, I have a copy of my 1040), so all I have to do is have my accountant fill out a 1040-x and all is solved. Here's where I get incredibly frustrated: I tell his assistant Joyce that's what needs to happen. She tells me to ignore them, their work was correct. I tell her, no, it clearly is not correct and simply sending in a 1040-x will solve it, could they please do it? And then... radio silence. No one is responding to my emails any longer. Nothing from them. I guess I'm on my own. It just doesn't seem right.
It was a simple mistake on their end in filing the paperwork, followed by poor advice to ignore debt collectors, a steadfast commitment from John and Joyce to not refile a simple form to fix the problem, and finally a complete abandonment of customer service by completely ignoring me.
