I am sure they are very good at saving people's lives. But, when it comes to community, they are severely lacking. I was just there at around 8 o'clock tonight and rang the doorbell as it said to do. Emergencies were to pick up the phone or dial 911, and you could call a given number m-f 8-5, or whatever business hours it said. Well, my reason for being there was not an emergency, but I wanted to notify someone of what looked to be like an injured deer on the side of the road next to the prairie. Other deer were grazing along the road nearby, but this one was sitting down which was unusual for anything I had seen in the prairie before. So, I just wanted to let someone in authority know. So, I rang the doorbell... no answer. Then I realized I didn't have a mask on, so I walked back to my car under a light right in front of a window that had at least one person sitting there. Got my mask and went back to the door. I could have sworn I saw someone inside see me, so I was happy someone would come to the door. No. No one came to the door... so, I knocked. No one. I walked back to my car again wondering what to do since no one bothered to even come find out why I was there and try to help at least talking through the glass window on the door. Someone could have told me something about who I should call or what they could do. No. I ended up calling the police department that directed me to animal control, who sent me to dispatch, and then got me through to the forest preserve who said they would send someone to check it out. Yes, I got bounced around. But, at least someone was trying to help me. Anyway, I was very discouraged and disappointed that people you look to for help couldn't even answer the door. And, if they try to say no one heard the door... I would say it was because they were watching the TV at least half the size of their wall way too loud.

On Friday the 13th, in May of 2016, I woke with arm and chest pain, which presaged a heart attack. EMTs arrived and went to work. On the way to Edward Hospital, my heart stopped twice, but when we got the ER, I was alive and conscious. The doctors did the rest, but there efforts could not have happened if Naperville FD didnt get me there! I will grateful for the rest of my days!
