I am 26 years old, experiencing debilitating joint and muscle pain. To the point where I cant walk. I am also experiencing skin reactions to points of pressure causing swelling and itching. This is in response to a physical, pressure stimulus. Because of health insurance problems, this has been ongoing for a year and I was just able to be seen. After seeing Dr. Towell, I was able to get blood work done, but because it didnt show elevated rheumatoid levels, she told me to see an allergy specialist (which I have seen in recent years and noted in my chart). Despite there being scores of other conditions this could be, and a heavy emphasis for combined testing needed to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis (and even seronegative RA, meaning no positives in blood work, existing and accounting for many cases!), she said no rheumatology referral is needed, even though they are booked out for more than a year in Bloomington, so getting in is already a hurdle even WITH a referral. She told me to see an allergist. Which I already have. I even brought photo documentation to the appointment to try to be listened to and cared for accurately. Instead, they are dismissing and minimizing my pain. I am being medically gaslit and totally uncared for. This is egregious health care and I do not recommend seeing Dr. Towell at all.
